BIAFRA: NNAMDI KANU’S RELEASE, HIS CO-DEFENDANTS AND OSINBAJO’S MISSION OF HEALING WOUNDS

Reliably; I was informed by a government source that the release of Nnamdi Kanu is a mission towards healing the wounds of Biafra. The source further urged me to communicate to my fellows on the need of sheathing their sword. I am not opposed to the move of healing wounds but if the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra - Nnamdi Kanu is given bail while Chidiebere Onwudiwe, David Madubugwu and others are still detained, I see nothing but insincere mission. Osinbajo must wake up to the reality that Biafra needs a different approach because the approach adopted by Muhammadu Buhari is nothing but error. No wound can be healed with the loved ones of the people of Biafra still detained at Kuje prison. Releasing other subjects of Nnamdi Kanu is the only means to opening the heart of the people on a way forward towards answering Biafra question.

Any sincere move will start with releasing every single person detained with Nnamdi Kanu and then seek to answer this Biafra question. Most men have argued that restructuring Nigeria will put an end to the agitation for the sovereign state of Biafra while others argue that Biafra agitation has gone beyond indirect answer. The release of Nnamdi Kanu while his co-defendants are still detained does not make sense and will remain a half baked effort. Biafra must be admitted and then lobbied and not molested and expect answers. If there is truly a mission of healing wounds; all the prisoners of conscience must be released and a new path can be charted. This rests on Osinbajo who has a lot to fix as a result of the militarily minded Buhari.

I have not seen the President of Nigeria for so long and I heard there is a new system of government called ‘Corpocracy’ being practiced in Nigeria, this system of government is where a dead man indirectly continues ruling. In a certain letter to Osinbajo; I addressed him by the President of Nigeria, but when Buhari was going back to his grave in London; he obviously made it clear that Osinbajo is the Coordinator of Nigeria and not the Acting President with the capacity to becoming a president when the President is away or incapacitated.

As the coordinator of Nigeria; it is obvious that the affairs of Nigeria are presently being coordinated by him until Buhari resurrects once more to take over the seat of power. Buhari has done well by warning Osinbajo to kill any hope of taking over as the President of Nigeria because such move would amount to spiritual haunting, but the inevitable thing remains that the troubles of Nigeria will be on Osinbajo until Buhari comes back. It is his constitutional right to make a call and dot ends on his table, except cowardice has saturated his sense of responsibility. This means that he can pursue a new cause; weather reconciliatory by referendum or restructure.

The mainstream issue in Nigeria remains Biafra agitation championed by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and it is very unfortunate that the issue reached its climax in Osinbajo’s time. In Buhari’s absence Nigeria has taken quite a civil decision which I credited to the Vice President. I am not surprised at most decisions taken in Buhari absence; this quite shows there is difference between military and civilian personality. When Fela Kuti, the Nigerian legendary musician during the military rule said that soldiers would pull off their military uniform and look for suit to rule; we all thought he was a kind of thoughtless drug addict. They have changed their military uniforms but have not changed their military mindset and this is why Nnamdi Kanu and co-defendants were detained and Biafra agitation made golden.

Buhari messed up Nigeria and it is now the duty of Osinbajo to clear it; when Buhari arrested Nnamdi Kanu and his co-defendants, he thought the people would keep quiet but Biafrans took to the streets, he was annoyed and ushered in the military to kill them and the people were ready to die, singing during their rallies ‘how many Biafrans Buhari go kill’ of course, Buhari cannot kill all of them. He began to arrest and kidnap Biafrans; Nigerian prisons became a meeting ground for the agitators and at a certain point, everybody became tired. The agitation is spreading like a wild fire and not even the military or arrest can control it again. Nnamdi Kanu’s arrest brought Biafra agitation to this point it is today and yet change of approach is a hard thing for the government.

This is now Osinbajo’s confusion; it is his duty to clear the mess of Buhari and bring sanity to the state and how will he make that come to reality. The first action taken on that note was to admit the release of Nnamdi Kanu and smartly attached bail conditions which would pin down the leader of IPOB. The release of Nnamdi Kanu whilst his co-defendants who were imprisoned with him are still detained is only but a half baked effort. While I commend the release of Nnamdi Kanu; I also deplore the continued imprisonment of his co-defendants. Chidiebere Onwudiwe and others must be released and make room for a fresh breath.
