BIAFRA: OHANEZE; POLITICAL LEADERS AND NNAMDI KANU BATTLE FOR GROUND - REPORT

The war has been declared and Nnamdi Kanu is to be put to test once more; Indigenous People of Biafra stood solidly behind their indigenous leader who had just came out from long illegal detention and it appears like the people are taking over their land, putting political leaders and political groups to sudden rest. Ohaneze and their counterpart, political leaders see this as taking away their power and influence and that small boy Nnamdi Kanu as they often call him would not be allowed to finally make them worthless. Politics has been the business since after the war; a business filled with greed and to survive, one must sell his conscience. Nnamdi Kanu to have declared that election will no more hold in Biafra land is nothing but beating a drum of war and Ohaneze/political leaders are ready to battle it out with him.
Rising from a meeting held at Enugu Lake Hotel on Saturday 1st of July; they mildly made it clear that they are fully in support of one Nigeria and would constitute official organ that would speak on behalf of Ndigbo. The meeting held at Enugu Lake Hotel was quickly convened by Nnia Nwodo; the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo after pressures from political leaders in Biafra land. The meeting was an outdoor meeting to proportionate the indoor meeting which was held with diverse political leaders across Biafra land.
According to the source that confided to The Biafra Post, it was clear that war has been officially declared and political leaders will fight with everything they got. The meeting which was held at Enugu Lake Hotel was an emergency one convened by the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo after numerous consultations with political leaders. Ohaneze Ndigbo has remained the mouthpiece of the political leaders; leaving its primary function which was to oversee the stability of the people of Igbo speaking part of Biafra. This ensured that Ohaneze was made an avenue to reaching and controlling the people; a strategy long destroyed by the emergence of Nnamdi Kanu.
The declaration made at Enugu Lake Hotel summed up everything that was agreed indoor which includes, to cutting the wings of Nnamdi Kanu, ensure that election is held and to quickly find a replacement leader for the people of Biafra who have unanimously chosen Nnamdi Kanu as their leader. They seem to admit that the people would revolt against them in advent of claiming effective leadership and so, finding or persuading some credible people to forming an organ remains their better shot. The open declaration in support of one Nigeria at a time the people are dying for Biafra is clearly an indication to the Nigerian government that they are once again in support of assault against Biafrans and their leader.
HOW PROBLEM STARTED
The attainment of prominence by Nnamdi Kanu in 2015 was seen as a threat to the already in place political coordination with the people set up by political leaders and Ohaneze simply because Nnamdi Kanu refused to politicize his agitation. Political leaders worked assiduously to approach Nnamdi Kanu through Ohaneze and use him to pursue their federal political ambitions but the effort collapsed as a result of Nnamdi Kanu’s resoluteness toward the quest for the restoration of the sovereign state of Biafra.
They had believed that Nnamdi Kanu had come to create awareness and take amnesty like others that came before him but as time goes on; things were getting worse and it became a priority to handle what they termed misguided agitation. Ohaneze Ndigbo had the mission to buy over Nnamdi Kanu and enable political leaders control him. Every effort to call Nnamdi Kanu to stop his agitation failed and they came forward with the plan of Nnamdi Kanu leaving the affairs of IPOB to them as elders while he agitate in the capacity of Youths of Biafra and in this situation, Ohaneze Ndigbo can approach the federal government with demands and hold them at ransom with Biafra agitation but he never gave them such chance.
As soon as Nnamdi Kanu was arrested; it was welcomed news for Ohaneze group and Biafran political leaders who believed that the arrest will enable them tame Nnamdi Kanu. They would definitely approach the federal government and ask to release Nnamdi Kanu to them but before that; they would reach agreement with Nnamdi Kanu. Investigation had it that Ohaneze pleaded Nnamdi Kanu to mandate them to speak or negotiate his release with the federal government which Nnamdi Kanu turned down and Ohaneze saw that as affront on them. At a stage; the apex group with political leaders in Biafra land urged the federal government to continue to hold Nnamdi Kanu until he succumbs to their bargain for his release. The strategy seems not to be working because the people Ohaneze claimed to represent have already started protesting and executing civil disobedience to secure the release of their leader. It was a battle between Ohaneze Ndigbo/Biafra political leaders and the people of Biafra that sustained pressure for the release of their leader.
When everything put forward to compromise Nnamdi Kanu failed and supporters growing everyday; Ohaneze then made her first press statement demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu. Having seen that they cannot win the battle due to the determination of indigenous elders, youths, women and children in support of Nnamdi Kanu, they quickly queued and followed the people. Further plans were assessed and they found out that still opposing Nnamdi Kanu would destroy them completely and they actively got involved. According to the source; indoor meetings were held with governors and other political leaders and it was agreed upon that they would compromise because they have lost the fight. That was when they started making press statements and calling for the release of Nnamdi Kanu; to appear as though they participated.
On that note; Ohaneze secured Nnamdi Kanu’s release long before he was released but due to the conditions they attached to his release, Nnamdi Kanu openly refused to be released under their effort and as a matter of fact vowed to die in detention if Ohaneze should be the only option left for his freedom. Then Nnamdi Kanu continued to be detained until the world could not live again with the pressure coming from the people of Biafra and urged Nigerian government to release him. Determined not to stop; political leaders through their Stooge-Ohaneze went further to align with Nnamdi Kanu but the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra diplomatically followed things, he refused to keep anybody out but was focused on the ultimate goal of his agitation.
The condition attached to Nnamdi Kanu’s bail that he should not grant any interview was pioneered by Ohaneze Ndigbo/Biafra political leaders so that they can have the avenue to speak louder. They were afraid that Nnamdi Kanu’s influence has reached the level that a word from him can sink Nigeria and they tried to curtail such. They also aimed to accuse him and put things on him because he had been put in a position he cannot defend himself or speak to the people. Nnamdi Kanu’s continued outspokenness has been a thorn in the flesh of Ohaneze/political leaders but they swallowed that until he declared that there won’t be election anymore in Biafra land. Seeing that such declaration is shutting them out of existence; they could not stomach it any longer and this led to the declaration of war against Nnamdi Kanu.
HOW THE WAR WILL BE EXECUTED
The battle line has been drawn and Ohaneze/political leaders are ready to fight dirty; this is a battle for their lives because ending election in Biafra land will end their business/career. Just as Nnamdi Kanu is preparing, Ohaneze/political leaders are preparing for a counter-attack. Urging the re-arrest of Nnamdi Kanu was brought to the table but according to a source, they don’t want to risk another fragile atmosphere and having been released and re-arrested, the act will be condemned worldwide and give Biafra agitation more attention on the international platform.
“The re-arrest of Nnamdi Kanu is strongly contemplated” a source said. According to another source; a good number of their think tank believe that re-arresting Nnamdi Kanu will ultimately give the people the reason to boycott further elections and draw stronger sympathy on his side. Going further; it is believed that the people may turn the land into a wasted land as a result of mob action, revolution against political leaders physical or gun confrontations. “I cannot tell you what may happen but be ready for anything” the source noted.
Urging credible personalities in Biafra land to form organs with assurance that they would support them to minimize the popularity of Nnamdi Kanu. They have also extended olive branch to aggrieved members of IPOB urging them to speak out against Nnamdi Kanu. Currently; they have talked to many and faulted Nnamdi Kanu’s declaration of no election in a state they said is controlled by Igbo speaking Biafrans. The organs to be formed shall include organs that shall be sympathetic to Biafra cause and organs that shall stay within IPOB in form of factions.
They also intend to raise media propaganda that will ultimately target the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra with the sole arm of minimizing his popularity. This media front shall be within and outside IPOB and they would discharge their duties undercover and sought to instigate IPOB against IPOB. Destruction or factionalizing IPOB remains a big deal; they are determined to meet willing tools that will facilitate this plan in order to make IPOB less effective.
Putting fear in the people remains a big shot; they are ready to meet the federal government and urge them to take any action they feel they can without constraint, even though it involves deploying troops and killing activists, arresting, kidnapping and torture. “This is the extent they are capable of going to making sure that election is not put on halt in Biafra land” the source said.
