CHINASA NWORU EXPOSES ALLEGED 2023 ATTEMPT TO DISMANTLE IPOB APEX LEADERSHIP

“I am only your lawyer. I am not an IPOB member. I cannot meddle in IPOB’s internal leadership affairs.”
Those are the words Mazi Chinasa Nworu attributed to Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor in one of the most explosive revelations from his August 8, 2026 interview on Radio Biafra and Biafra TV, hosted by Mazi Patrick Ikem.
Nworu was responding to questions surrounding the alleged dissolution of the Directorate of State (DOS) and the subsequent emergence of a purported replacement structure, which critics have sarcastically labelled the “Directorate of Sokoto.”
Rather than expressing surprise, Nworu reportedly laughed.
According to him, the public may only be discovering the alleged crisis now, but those within the leadership had allegedly seen it coming years ago.
🔥 “WE RECEIVED THE INTELLIGENCE IN 2021”
Nworu alleged that intelligence concerning an alleged plan to dismantle the DOS had been available to the leadership since 2021, following Kanu's rendition from Kenya to Nigeria.
He claimed that the objective was to gradually weaken the institutional structure of IPOB and ultimately destroy the organisational foundation of the Biafra struggle.
Nworu further alleged that Simon Ekpa's emergence was connected to this alleged strategy.
⚡ THE UMAHI–EKPA CLAIM
Nworu also made a startling allegation concerning former Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi.
According to Nworu, people who recently visited Kanu in Sokoto allegedly returned with an account of what Kanu himself told them.
Nworu claimed that Kanu allegedly told his visitors that Umahi had been financially supporting him and that the alleged financial support was conditioned on Kanu accepting Simon Ekpa into an IPOB leadership position to represent Umahi's interests.
Nworu challenged anyone interested in the truth to approach those visitors and ask them what Kanu allegedly told them.
The allegation remains unverified and is presented here solely as Nworu's account.
🔥 “HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THE 2022 DOS DISSOLUTION?”
Nworu then asked what he considered a crucial question:
Have Biafrans forgotten Simon Ekpa's alleged 2022 online vote of no confidence against the DOS?
He argued that the episode demonstrated that efforts to delegitimise the existing DOS structure had been underway long before the current controversy.
According to Nworu, actions attributed to Ekpa were part of a larger attempt to weaken the institutional leadership.
He further alleged that Kanu was not merely aware of those actions but actively supported them.
💣 THE “THREE THINGS” STATEMENT
Nworu also revisited Kanu's famous claim that he knew three things about the struggle, while the DOS knew one and his former deputy, Uche Mefor, knew two.
Nworu gave his interpretation of what those statements allegedly meant.
He claimed that financial dealings involving politicians were among the matters that the wider leadership allegedly did not know about.
He further alleged that Mefor knew about some of those dealings.
But according to Nworu, the third matter allegedly concerned Kanu's private lifestyle, which he described as lavish and scandalous.
These remain allegations made by Nworu and have not been independently established.

⚖️ THEN CAME THE EJIOFOR MOMENT
According to Nworu, the leadership's refusal to collapse eventually led to an alleged instruction from Kanu in 2023.
The instruction, Nworu alleged, was for Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor to publicly announce the removal or dissolution of the DOS.
But according to Nworu, Ejiofor refused.
His alleged reason was striking:
«He was Kanu's lawyer, not an IPOB member, and therefore could not interfere in IPOB's internal affairs.»
If Nworu's account is accurate, that decision raises one of the biggest questions now surrounding the controversy:
CAN ONE INDIVIDUAL DISSOLVE IPOB'S INSTITUTIONAL LEADERSHIP?
And if not, who has the constitutional or organisational authority to do so?
That question has now become central to the battle over the legitimacy of the purported new leadership structure.
🩸 “WE COULD NOT ALLOW THE FIRE TO DIE”
Nworu said the leadership decided to remain focused despite years of pressure, attacks and blackmail.
He said they considered the sacrifices of members across the world — including lives lost, financial contributions, personal sacrifices and the enormous trust placed in the movement.
According to him, they continued to give Kanu the benefit of the doubt, believing that his circumstances could have affected his decisions and hoping that he would eventually return to the principles of the struggle.
But Nworu now believes that the waiting period has ended.
“EVENTS HAVE EXPOSED EVERYTHING”
Nworu argued that recent developments have allowed Biafrans to see the situation more clearly.
He maintained that the controversy surrounding the DOS, the alleged attempts to replace it and the emergence of competing structures have exposed what he believes has been unfolding behind the scenes for years.
His message was therefore unequivocal:
“IT IS TIME TO MOVE ON.”
The controversy is far from over.
At its heart is a fundamental question that Biafrans must now confront:
WHO OWNS THE INSTITUTION — AN INDIVIDUAL OR THE STRUCTURE?
As competing claims continue to emerge, the struggle over the legitimacy of the DOS and the purported replacement structure could become one of the defining internal battles in the history of IPOB.
