Comrade Solomon Onyegbula is a Biafran by nationality and a Biafra writer by act of volition and a graduate [in-view] awaiting for his clearance, while during his undergraduate days in the university was also a student activist who was forcefully abducted by the men of the Nigeria Department of State Security from his office at Kagha Street by Tetlow road Owerri - Imo State on the 8th day of March, 2021. Two days from now will make it one year of him being held in detention incommunicado without trial or being set free.
After several efforts by IPOB legal team, his case of forceful disappearance from the eye of the public and infringement of his human rights of association, assembly, expression, belief and speech was established in the Federal High Court Abuja (court - 2) and a date was fixed which was on the 22nd day of February, 2022 was obtained for the commencement of hearing and possible trial of his case. On the said date the men of the Nigeria Department of State Security came before the Abuja High Court Chaired by Chief Justice Zebi Abubakari, but they failed and did not produce Comrade Solomon Onyegbula to appear in court before the said Justice.
The Chief Judge - Justice Zebi Abubakari, out of anger and in his well calculated wisdom ruled that the case cannot go on nor continue without Comrade Solomon being provided in court and he - Justice Zebi Abubakari instructed the Nigeria Department of State Security to unfailingly produce him - Comrade Solomon Onyegbula on the adjourned date being 3rd of march 2022 and the court dismissed.
As it is embedded in the tradition of the Nigeria Department of State Security to flout court order today, they failed and did not only failed to produce Comrade Solomon Onyegbula on 3rd of March, 2022 but also boycotted attending the court session when the case was called up for hearing.
The Chief Judge - Justice Zebi Abubakari, helplessly pleaded with the IPOB lawyers defending Comrade Solomon Onyegbula, the duo of Barrister Onwubiko Barba and Barrister Ogbaga Nneamaka to choose another day and date for ruling on the case. The lawyers in their own schedule chose the 22nd day of March 2022, for the case to be entertained with Comrade Solomon Onyegbula being present.
We are bringing to the notice of the humanity and the world at large that the Nigeria terrorist government has been holding a young innocent Biafran student incommunicado for a complete one year cycle without granting him access to his lawyers, family, friends and comrades. As if that flagrant violation of his fundamental human rights was not enough, they still disobeyed court orders on two separate occasions thereby rendering the national judiciary to a mocking tool that has no power to challenge the excesses of the Federal government.
On the 22nd of March 2022, we shall again appear in court to see and report back to the sane society of our noble IPOB family members if there will be positive changes regarding to this order from Justice Zebi Abubakari mandating the Department of State Security Service to produce Comrade Solomon Onyegbula in court as we pray and hope our dear comrade is in good shape.
