BIAFRA: WHILE BOKOHARAM RAVISHES THE NORTH REGION, THE NIGERIA GOVERNMENT SENDS TROOPS AND WAR MACHINERY TO PEACEFUL BIAFRA LAND

It is saddening that the so-called political, traditional and religious leaders of Biafra origin continues to make pilgrimage journey to Abuja to pledge allegiance and loyalty while those whom they claim they lead are targeted for massacre by the Hausa/Fulani Muslim stock of Nigeria armed forces. On weekly basis, the dreaded BokoHaram Islamic terrorist group wrecks havoc on both the civilian and military populace in the north region and in a recent video of the sect’s leader Abubakar Shekau, he mocked the Nigeria government and military on their incompetency and inability to thwart the activities of his men.
As the 40-day deadline for the capture of Abubakar Shekau elapsed, rather than intensify efforts for his capture the Nigeria military has chosen a soft target in the people of Biafra. The right to self-determination has become a more troubling crime than that of terrorism for the Muhammadu Buhari administration. The BokoHaram terrorists have continued to kill troops and also shooting down jet fighters without any form of resistance from the Nigeria military.
The Nigeria armed forces continue to create road blocks and checkpoints in Biafra land for the sake of extorting motorists and also harassing pedestrians. Every junctions and highways in most parts of Biafra land are occupied by the Nigeria military and police as if there is ongoing guerilla warfare. The United Nations had recently declared the south east region as the most peaceful place in Nigeria but Muhammadu Buhari has continued to militarize the region out of hatred.
The right to self-determination is an inalienable right as enshrined in the United Nations Charter and does not warrant the use of force against unarmed Biafrans seeking to exercise that right. The Nigeria government has allowed terrorism to thrive in the country as BokoHaram members are continuously released from prison and even offered amnesty. While the fundamental human rights of Biafrans are abused with impunity by the Nigeria security forces.
Amnesty International, has accused the Nigeria government of secret and illegal detention of several Biafrans. Recall, the global rights group had also indicted the Nigeria security forces of extra judicial violence and death against peaceful Biafrans. While the international community feigns ignorance, the people of Biafra are been pushed to the wall, brutalized and even killed. The implication of these atrocities against Biafrans is a looming crisis that will envelop most parts of Africa and across the globe.
The Catalonians and Scottish are also seeking for independence but are not being melted with aggression or oppression. This act of discrimination against the people of Biafra must stop and the Nigeria government urged to act civil. The militarization of Biafra land is uncalled and senseless; it is an act to create fear and tension amongst Biafrans which is a futility. The people of Biafra have made a choice; it is either the restoration of Biafra or death.
