In
furtherance of his desire for the killing of Biafrans, President Buhari
mandated his Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) to legally proclaim IPOB
as a terrorist group. The AGF was quick to get a crooked Judge in the Federal
High Court, Abuja who urgently approved the application by the Federal
government of Nigeria to tag the Indigenous People of Biafra as terrorists. No
Judge worth his robe would grant such order because there was no evidence in
place and there is a subsisting court order over the legality of IPOB. Recall,
the same Abuja High Court via Justice Binta Nyako had on Wednesday, March 1,
2017 declared that IPOB is a lawful society. The proscription of IPOB is a
revelation of the failed judicial system in Nigeria. Revealing the desperation
of the Nigeria government, the concocted order was littering all over the
social media before been signed and published in the official gazette.
On a personal note, I was not surprised with the stance of the South-East Governors in proscribing IPOB because Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has exposed their ill dealings and the people of Biafra no longer consider them as leaders but servants to the northern oligarchy. The rallies organized by the IPOB leader have become threats to the selfish ambition of the South-East Governors and politicians, so they had to fight back by hurriedly banning the activities of IPOB immediately the Defense Headquarters made its “proclamation” or “declaration”.
The
Nigeria government has continue to acquire and receive weaponry from foreign
countries especially the US and the agreement is to use the weapons for the
fight against terrorism specifically BokoHaram. Buhari never fails to show his
love for his “misguided brothers” as he refers to members of the BokoHaram
terrorist group and does not intend to use the weapon against them. He prefers
to release those imprisoned and offer them amnesty. It is worthy of note that
few years ago, Buhari and the current Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed,
both vocally condemned the declaration of BokoHaram as a terrorist group by the
Goodluck Jonathan administration.
It
is an undisputed fact that the Nigeria armed forces have continued to
perpetrate extra judicial violence and killings against innocent Biafrans
clamoring for the right to self-determination using the weapons sent for the
fight against terrorism but have been receiving knocks from global human rights
watch dog, Amnesty International. The proscription of IPOB as terrorists will
give the Nigeria security forces the liberty to continue the massacre of
Biafrans in the cover of fighting against terrorism.
The Indigenous People of
Biafra led by Nnamdi Kanu are seeking to exercise the right to
Self-determination and have only requested for a referendum, it is on record
that they have not engaged in any form of violence or terrorism. Rather they
are being mete with violence and killing by the Nigeria security force as
attested by Amnesty International in its reports. The most recent is the
invasion of the home of Nnamdi Kanu and Biafran activists in Aba by the Nigeria
Military which resulted in the killing and molestation of hundreds.
It
is pathetic that the killer Fulani herdsmen described as the fourth deadliest
known terrorist group in the globe by the Global Terrorism Index are been
described as “mere gang of criminals” by the Nigeria government which does not
subscribe to curtailing them with military force. It is important to be
informed that President Buhari is the life patron of the Fulani Herdsmen
Association. Buhari will rather stifle the right to free speech and freedom of
assembly for the People of Biafra than eradicate the incessant killing, rape
and destruction perpetrated by his kinsmen – the Fulani herdsmen terrorists.
The
people of Biafra must not be deterred by the terrorist tag but should know that
the demand for a separate nation is legitimate and not criminal. The leadership
of IPOB should by now understand they are dealing with barbarians in the
Nigeria government but must continue to expose them through the law. The legal
team of IPOB is hereby advised to challenge the farce order in the appellant
court because IPOB is fighting for Self-determination which is lawful under
Nigeria’s constitution and international law. The Nigeria government is under
obligation to obey the United Nations Charter which it is a signatory to,
though a situation I see as a mirage. The more reason the Biafra National Guard
should as a matter of urgency begin preparation for the self-defense of their
people against massacre by the Hausa/Fulani Muslim stock soldiers.
