Buhari might have come back to
Nigeria but his look is not encouraging; by virtue of his weak voice and steps,
he is still battling his afflictions or his afflictions are battling him. There
is no hope that his afflictions will leave him until he is forced into a
casket. No need of rejoicing because he would move back to London; what Buhari
is battling is mysterious but in advent of his death, let it be clear that
Buhari is a hero to have survived till this moment. It is a pity that this
battle is determined to take his head”
I understand the frustration of Muhammadu
Buhari and why he detests Nigerians commenting ill of the state of his health
or wishing him death. He knows what he is passing through and needs words of
encouragement; someone needed to pat his back to help him persevere. I feel for
Buhari because what is battling him is beyond him and his doctors. He is
battling to remain alive when everything opposes his existence; even as he is
back, he would quickly travel back to London because the battle is not yet
over.
I have been with this topic for
five months now and I kept nursing it till this day; I kept asking myself, what
is battling Buhari or what is Buhari battling? This question became imperative
because of characteristics of his situation, the time Buhari went down and what
was said before his knock-out. I am someone that avoids sentiment in certain
areas but hold onto facts even though sentiment will give a rich edge. Buhari
is battling something or something is battling him and it is a pity facing such
situation in this stage of his life. Since Buhari’s military government was
overthrown in 1984; he has not taken a rest, he kept crawling and creeping back
into power. Democracy came back in 1999; he never had a rest, he kept
contesting but the mountain seems insurmountable. With the vigor in his
determination to come back to power; we began to believe that he has something
to offer the people. In 2015; the odd time came; he threatened to soak the
people in the pool of their blood if election did not swing to his favor and
fearfully, the powers that be in Nigeria rooted for him. He came into power;
what has been sought after for many years was all his own, he looked back and
remembered how he was overthrown, the hot slap Dasuki gave him then and many
things that happened, firstly, he single handedly picked Dasuki and threw him
into the prison, a payback and Dasuki should endure, the world is a small world
that turns around. He looked at how the electorates have been handling him for
all those years; he felt that the regions that gave him 95% vote deserve more
than those that gave him 5%. The ups and downs, scorn and pains of his sojourn
to power, those that caused him all that must pay back and that gave birth to
nepotism and regime atrocities. Then suddenly; when everything he wanted for
years became a reality, Nnamdi Kanu was there to make it unbearable and the
fragile Buhari pressed a panic button which resulted to the arrest of Nnamdi
Kanu. Nnamdi Kanu was arrested during GEJ’s regime but was immediately released
which somehow killed the relevance of his agitation but when Buhari did same
thing, he held Nnamdi Kanu against court ruling which gave rise to the
agitation. He was so obsessed with power and felt like to nip obstructions in
the bud by holding him in detention just as he held Dasuki but the plan
backfired.
The heat was on him and then USA
election was raging; Obama had helped Buhari’s journey to Aso Rock and by so
doing, Democrats were Buhari’s allies. Polls were against Donald Trump, establishment
and everything politics opposed him. Clinton’s victory was visible and nobody
saw otherwise; American secretary of State visited Nigeria and discussed with
Northern governors. There was a link and just after the election; there was a
report of billions of Dollars rolled out to Democrats to push for the party’s
success in the election. Obama deserves the money for everything he did for
Buhari but then the tide changed when the election result trickled in, by noon
the next day, Donald Trump was the certified new American leader. It was a
shock to everything and everybody; the polls and the electioneering experts;
everything went the wrong direction and the people of America had their voices
heard over that of their political gladiators.
Meanwhile; at the same time, Nnamdi Kanu’s
agitation was at its climax and Donald Trump was believed to be in support of
Biafra as fear of the unknown gripped everyone. By January 20 when Donald Trump
would be sworn in; Buhari took ill and was flown to London for treatment and
two months after, nobody heard from him but days to the constitutional
impeachment, Buhari stormed Nigeria and while Nigerians were celebrating his
comeback, his jet was on its way back to London again. Nobody knows what is
wrong with the president and neither were his doctors in London able to find
out and tell the people what their leader is suffering from.
The simple reality is that since Biafra
agitation championed by Nnamdi Kanu gained momentum; Muhammadu Buhari continues
to find life uneasy. The fundamental problem of Buhari can be Biafra agitation
which caused him a mysterious illness. Buhari did not heed the words of
prophets who kept warning him of the anger of God. Self determination before
man and God is not evil; a man that seeks self rule is courted or lobbied and
not beaten and detained. Buhari could be paying for his sins against the people
of Biafra and Nnamdi Kanu; recall that the spirits of over 5million people are
involved. Buhari could be suffering a sickness called Biaframenia; Biaframenia
is caused by hypertension and fear of losing value. Biaframenia has its
symptoms which are; HBP, fear, hunger and hopelessness; knowing that if Biafra
leaves; economy will drop to zero, Buhari’s fear skyrocketed, yet he wouldn’t
plead to Biafra or lobby them but shoot them to death for daring to demand self
rule. Biaframenia is battling Buhari and Buhari is also fighting back.
Biaframenia will never leave Buhari until it kills him and that is why I pity
him. Leave Biafra and die; hold Biafra and continue to suffer in pains of
Biaframenia, the man found himself in the middle of nowhere.
Buhari might have come back to
Nigeria but his look is not encouraging; from his voice and steps, he is still
battling his afflictions or his afflictions are battling him. There is no hope
that his afflictions will leave him until he is forced into a casket. No need
of rejoicing because he would move back to London; what Buhari is battling is
mysterious but in advent of his death, let it be clear that Buhari is a hero to
have survived till this moment. It is a pity that this battle is determined to
take his head.
