Nigeria army on training

The news reaching the news desk of Biafra Reporters has revealed the continuous ostracization of soldiers of eastern region currently serving in the Nigeria Army due to the ongoing struggle for the restoration of the sovereign state of Biafra. The soldiers from eastern region are excluded from training and also promotion unlike their Hausa/Fulani and Yoruba colleagues.

It is no longer news that the position of commander in all of the installments of the Nigeria armed forces is been held mostly by the Hausa/Fulani and the Yoruba alone. Recently, an advert was placed across all the military barracks asking for application from willing personnel in commonwealth countries to join in course and physical training by the British Army. The advert stated that an invitation will be sent to successful applicant and over 12,000 candidates were needed.< o:p>

Investigations by Biafra Reporters have confirmed that 90% of the successful candidates for the training in Britain were of Hausa/Fulani Muslim stock without an inclusion of soldiers from the eastern region. Lamenting the non inclusion of soldiers from the eastern region, a personnel who pleaded anonymity spoke as thus; “Since the agitation for Biafra became popularized by Nnamdi Kanu, the authorities in the Nigeria Army have become frightened and does not include us in most activities like foreign mission and training, they prefer to send us to North East to come and face Boko Haram but we are not even well equipped which makes it a suicide mission.” Another said “It feels so bad seeing recruits who have not spent up to a year in service going abroad for mission and training while I am left out and I am in service for over five years, they are finally making it known to us that we are truly strangers and are no longer wanted.”

Truly, soldiers from the eastern region have borne the brunt of the Boko Haram menace and are still underpaid, their salaries owed for several months and promotion is a desire only seen in their dreams. Meanwhile, soldiers of Hausa/Fulani Muslim stock are sent to Biafra land for harassment and extortion of defenseless citizens. The extra judicial killings and violence against the Indigenous People of Biafra were and still been perpetrated by these gang of barbarians in military uniform. As the October 1st eviction deadline draws closer and the anti-Igbo song continues to circulate in the north region, soldiers from the eastern region should know they are also not safe. In fact, they may become the first sacrificial lamb to be slaughtered by the Islamic fundamentalists who will definitely view them as a huge threat to their jihad movement.

Furthermore, information sent to Chima Onyekachi of Biafra Reporters from a source serving in the 7th Division Garrison Nigeria Army in Maiduguri lamented the foiling of the arrest of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau , by the Chief of Army Staff, T.Y Burutai. The source revealed that Shekau is been accommodated in the residential area of Maiduguri specifically inside the building serving as the United Nations base. This prompted the invasion of the building in the late hours of Thursday by a combine team of the Nigeria armed forces including the police, but the military squad were  not allowed entrance into the building even till the next day when the Chief of Army Staff ordered for the dispersion of the squad from the building. The information about the whereabouts of the leader of the terrorist group was gotten after the capture of his second wife in a cordon and search operation in Damaturu.
