BIAFRA: OBASANJO SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR BIAFRA AGITATION

Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo
Obasanjo was reportedly quoted to have urged Nigerians to do everything possible to stop Nnamdi Kanu, he further said that IPOB must be stopped to avoid bloodshed. The confusion remains - we don’t know whose blood will be shed; Nnamdi Kanu has not shown any sign of violence and neither is his peaceful agitation that is demanding referendum bloodletting. If Obasanjo is planning for bloodshed; he should please inform us to get prepared, this is not 1967 he murdered children, women and still went scot-free. The agitation championed by Nnamdi Kanu has been commended all around the world as the most peaceful agitation that has endured severe provocations. If Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB have endured the death of their loved ones; arbitrary detention, rights abuse, and all forms of attack for the sake of peace, where will bloodshed come from? Obasanjo needs to clear the air and let the world take notice of such threat to humanity; I bet this threat is as a result of 1967 indiscipline.

Armed agitation for the state of Biafra happened 50 years ago and what actually resurrected it today? After the 1967 war of genocide to crush the existence of the state of Biafra; the people of Biafra accepted no victor-no vanquish resolution for the purpose of rebuilding Nigeria, what happened afterwards? These are the big questions Obasanjo must answer before poke nosing into Biafra issue. As a military head of state and a democratic President; what are his efforts towards rebuilding Nigeria and making it a united country where all regions feel belonged which was the major thing that could have controlled or stopped today’s agitation?

Black Africans don’t have the habit of holding leaders to account and this has benefited failed leaders; a leader that plunged a country into chaos can majestically walk to a stage and charge Nigerians to stop the monster of his recklessness. Should Obasanjo charge anyone to stop Biafra agitation; he must go down on his knees and apologize to this generation over his mistakes and incompetence to stopping the agitation himself. One thing Obasanjo failed to understand is the fact that we have once more taken a look at history and analyzed what transpired. If he could not stop it as President; even military leader, how can powerless and unemployed Nigerians stop it?

For 50 years; Obasanjo had the time and power to stop this agitation happening today but he was rather busy converting Government owned Ota farm to his private farm. He was busy laundering money and enriching his pocket; targeting his enemies and dinning with his friends. There was space of 50 years to build infrastructure in Biafra that could have stopped today’s agitation and give them sense of belonging with Federal government presence. There was opportunity to kill any form of agitation by changing the military constitution but he was rather busy, sacking those that would disturb his regime. Complete black man that loves power and knows how to protect it but cannot utilize it properly.

Obasanjo has been on the seat of Nigerian power for years and more than any other person and hence this agitation is as a result of the failure of the past government to building united Nigeria, he should be held responsible for Biafra agitation. Who is happy that Nigeria’s foundation he significantly participated in laying can no longer hold the country? Are the people of Biafra so happy that they are struggling for a better life with their lives and everything they have? Who would not be happy in a better and workable Nigeria? Had Obasanjo fixed Nigeria during all these years he was at the helm, who would be here demanding for Biafra where life can be safe?

After Biafra accepted no victor-no vanquish; what happened to their properties to show the war is over and brothers have forgiven brothers, what did Obasanjo do? When 20 pounds was given to the people of Biafra for any amount they had in the bank before the war, what did Obasanjo do? When no Biafran had ever been in a position of power and kept away from Aso Rock, what did Obasanjo do? When Biafrans were denied sea port and air port, what did Obasanjo do? When Biafrans were treated like second class citizens, what did Obasanjo do? Did he speak against the marginalization of the people of Biafra? Maybe he never knew that such day like today will ever come and now he is bloating like a frog.

Throughout the period Obasanjo was the President of Nigeria; had he not enough chance to stopping this agitation before today? Now he is charging fools to stop Nnamdi Kanu’s agitation because it looks like the day of reckoning has come. Now he is charging innocent Nigerians to stop agitation for a better future because they are the ones good to die or suffer. Obasanjo must not be allowed to deceive innocent Nigerians into stopping an agitation that is inevitable. It is all clear that at this point; only referendum can save Nigeria from shameful death.
