BIAFRA: AREWA YOUTHS ARE ALLOWED TO SAVE THEIR NIGERIA BUT MUST RESPECT THE CHOICE OF BIAFRANS

The ‘Kaduna Declaration’ by prominent Arewa Youth organizations, threatening Biafrans residing and engaging in businesses in the north region to vacate or be forcefully evicted within three months, has revealed the hopelessness and lack of direction of the Hausa/Fulani youths. The Arewa youths have at several times shown that they are easy and available tools to be used by their political and religious leaders to cause tension and violence in the country.
It was not a surprise that the Northern Elders Forum came out to support the threat of their children and grandchildren and also issued their own threat to have a faceoff with those clamoring for the restoration of Biafra. The threat of forceful eviction of Biafrans from the northern region of Nigeria is actually from the cabal in the government and the northern elders, using the Arewa Youths as a cover for them.
The duos of Yerima Shettima (President of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum) and Isaac Balami (President of Arewa Consultative Forum Congress), whom are also signatories to the hate-filled “Kaduna Declaration”, have recently made a u-turn calling for peace and unity. They also believe there is no need for separation anymore and that their approach is not the best for the country. They could not help as usual to call out against the approach of IPOB which has been civil and diplomatic but will never be understood by their feeble minds. It is certain both youth leaders made the video out of fright to exonerate themselves from the calls for the arrest and prosecution of signatories to the declaration.
It is worrisome that the leaders of other prominent Arewa Youth organizations and signatories to the threat of forceful eviction of Biafrans from the northern region were not part of the video. Rather, most of these Arewa youth leaders have debunked the threat of arrest by Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state and insisted that the “Kaduna Declaration” must stand. It is sure that most Islamic fundamentalists are awaiting the expiration of the three-month deadline to begin the slaughtering of innocent Biafrans in the northern region.
There is no certainty that the Nigeria security forces will be able to protect the lives and properties of Biafrans after the expiration of the three-month notice of eviction given to them by the Hausa/Fulani youths to vacate the northern region. Biafrans are strongly advised to begin the relocation of their families and businesses out of the Arewa region. I am aware it is not an easy task for them but it is the sacrifice they have to pay for their own safety. The hate-filled declaration against the people of Biafra after the joint meeting held in Arewa House must not be taken for granted.
The Nigeria security will definitely compromise and will allow the Hausa/Fulani youths to carry on with the planned pogrom against Biafrans in the northern region. Remember, Amnesty International has indicted the Nigeria security forces of extra judicial violence and killing of innocent and peaceful Biafrans.
The Arewa youths organizations must know that the Indigenous People of Biafra led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu are no longer interested in the forced union of Nigeria and desires to exercise their right to self-determination as enshrined in the United Nations Charter. The total compliance of the May 30TH 2017 sit-at-home in commemoration of the Biafra Heroes Day should definitely send a strong signal to those opposing the restoration of Biafra and they must not continue to pretend about it. The Hausa/Fulani youths are advised not to hold on to the desire of their elders who are insisting on a forced unity in Nigeria. The disintegration of Nigeria will not be the end of their lives but will bring forth development. South Sudan should not always be the reference for their fear but they must also think forth towards the countries that have disintegrated and are doing well in every sector.
Everyone has the right to make their choice and if the Hausa/Fulani youths have chosen to remain in Nigeria, they must not force their choice on Biafrans. They must show discipline and decorum to pursue their cause as been exhibited by IPOB. We assure them that the people of Biafra have made up their minds and are more desirous in the restoration of the sovereign state of Biafra. The collective decision of the people of Biafra can be tested via the most diplomatic approach which is a referendum.
