BIAFRA: CONTINUED DETENTION OF NNAMDI KANU AND ITS CONDEMNATION IS NURTURING REVOLUTION OR CIVIL WAR

Fall back into 2015 when Nnamdi Kanu was arrested and you will find a reason to praise or note Justice Ademola of Federal High Court who ordered Nnamdi Kanu’s immediate unconditional release- is a true lover of Nigeria. You would conclude that Justice Ademola embraced justice in the interest of Nigeria; initially, there was no basis to hold Nnamdi Kanu and his continued detention proved the worst of it all. Ademola saw tomorrow and knew that only justice can bring about safety; he was not looking at the issue from a present perspective but proactively doing so. When he issued order for Nnmdi Kanu’s release; he was probably telling his darling country to politically address the lawful / just call of Nnamdi Kanu than trying to intimidate and harass him with the judiciary. He must have looked at the case and felt that instead of being coercively solved; it would deteriorate and consume everyone. He felt that the religious/ethnic sentiment therein is not healthy for a fragile country like Nigeria; in everything, he was simply defending Nigeria but Muhammadu Buhari’s bigotry would not give him a space to think proactively.
This is where the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu has brought us; spilling of blood, trampling on rights. Going into war with Amnesty International for their humanitarian interferences and fighting Donald Trump. When Nnamdi Kanu was arrested; was Buhari not aware that it would destroy Nigeria, were they thinking everybody would go to bed? Nigeria is a step away from being exactly or on the same horizon with Somalia. Extinction of already damaged ethnic relationship is the result of Nnamdi Kanu’s continued detention. Destruction of Nigerian economy; through attacks and non commitment of Eastern people to the growth of the economy as anger towards Nnamdi Kanu’s continued detention. Diverse calls for division of Nigeria due to the consciousness or awareness his continued detention sustained. Tagging Nigeria the worst place for Christians and destruction of Nigeria’s international image. I can’t least all but Nnamdi Kanu has directly or indirectly contributed to the sorry state of Nigeria and will likely going to cause more damages unless he is released and his lawful agitation addressed in any civil way possible.
Let me leave the outcome for another day; today is the dangers of the inevitable condemnation coming from every quarter. Internationally; Biafra agitation has gained tremendous awareness and the world is talking and demanding his release; EU parliamentarians are but few condemning his continued detention. Amnesty International; the number one international right group has condemned the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu. There is condemnation from host of respectable figures; international columnists and political leaders. It is no longer news that the world is aware of Nnamdi Kanu and in one form or another has condemned his continued detention.
Locally; the condemnation of the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu is going beyond what we all thought at the initial stage. We all thought that only IPOB journalists; principal officers and affiliates would be condemning his continued detention but we have all been beaten or rather disappointed. His continued detention ensured the coming together of the people of Biafra; Asari Dokubo and the rest of the people of Biafra from the hinterland are condemning Kanu’s continued detention, even Annkio Briggs fumed that his son (Nnamdi Kanu) cannot be incarcerated while Boko Haram terrorists are freed and left to walk untouched. The likes of Soludo, Utomi and APC stalwarts are finding reason to be on a page with Indigenous People of Biafra. Religious leaders are speaking in condemnation and in totality; it will therefore be stupidity to continue to hold Nnamdi Kanu. Once even is broken; measures will be put in place and a thief sent by his father breaks the door with his leg (Confidence). A word is enough for the wise!
This condemnation from prominent people and professionals; political leaders and they are standing behind Nnamdi Kanu. The condemnation of the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu means that everybody is tired and his freedom is overdue. This is the last chance to addressing the inevitable crisis the continued detention of Nnmdi Kanu will cause. Now that men from Eastern Nigeria have condemned his continued detention and called for his release; the youths are watching closely and they are waiting to see what the reaction of the government will be. This call coming from every quarter can be translated into incitement at a certain stage; when everybody agrees to the simple fact that Nnamdi Kanu is a victim of injustice, it can or may be basis or justification for crisis, injustice will be resisted and nobody would question the persevered youths.
The agitation against Nnamdi Kanu’s detention started with the youths while social and cultural groups opposed or feigned ignorance. The agitation continued until social and cultural groups added their voices; demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu and being on the side of the people against the government. Then political leaders were quiet as the agitation soared; but recently, political leaders are speaking more than the youths for Nnamdi Kanu to be released. Professionals and leaders of different categories were opposed to Nnamdi Kanu but now there seems to be harmony and understanding, they have all come to the conclusion that continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu is injustice against the people of Biafra (Eastern Nigeria). There is no gainsaying that if the call for Nnamdi Kanu’s release is not heeded; the youths might resort to violence knowing that there is unanimous support for the cause they are violently pursuing. The danger of the condemnation of the continued detention of Nnmdi Kanu is when the government fails to release him; the youths would be justified to release him by all means for the people of Biafra. This will ensure total revolution against the Nigerian State in which nobody will be left to speak in defense of Nigeria because Nigeria has exhausted all her opportunity to be friendly.
