On October 30, 2016, the youths of Biafra stormed the grand finale of the World Youth Gathering, tagged “my week with the holy spirit”, organized by the Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Anambra State, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, also known as EBUBE MUONSO. The event had in attendance personalities such as former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, Ifeanyi Uba, Kanu Nwankwo, Kenneth Okonkwo, Queen Nwoye, Gozie Okeke, Steve Crown and a host of others. The programme which had over 1000 youths in attendance, saw the parading of Biafra flags throughout the duration of the service amidst cheers from the crowd.

The parade of Biafra flags in the adoration ground began with few youths but increased as time went on, even during the prayer session, and was more overwhelming during the praise session as thousands of Biafrans danced through the length and breadth of the ground holding the flag. A mild drama occurred during the Thanksgiving session, as Biafran youths in their thousands jubilated towards the altar with their gifts, offerings and flags. Getting to the altar, they presented their gifts and offerings, and also presented Biafra flags to Ebube Muonso, who gently took it from them and kept them beside him. An overzealous usher who wanted to forcefully seize flags from the youths was beckoned by the Reverend Father and rebuked.

Speaking to the organiser of the parade who simply introduced himself as ‘Biafran Child’ and a hardcore from the IPOB family in Nkpor-Onitsha, he spoke as thus “I decided to organize this parade with my team, to show the world that the people of Biafra are resolute and also to use the opportunity to evangelize to our youths about the restoration of Biafra, because I am aware that the programme will be beamed worldwide through satellite.” Another reason was to know the reaction of Rev. Fr Ebube Muonso towards the struggle.” The event started on Wednesday 26th of October, on that day we came to the adoration ground and began to evangelize with our flags, I got the attention of hardcore Biafrans and we decided on the plan to storm the thanksgiving service on the last day of the programme, which we did and we were voluntarily joined by thousands of Biafrans who attended the service.”

Asking him how he felt after the parade, he said “we left the altar fulfilled and expectant to hear again from Rev. Fr Emmanuel Obimma, he did not speak about our actions and he did not handle our flags with any atom of disdain but we still want him to speak.”

It could be recalled that Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, had earlier this year, called for the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, whom he called an innocent man that has not committed any crime. Unlike his purported mentor, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, he has boldly spoken against the atrocities and injustice perpetrated against the people of Biafra by the Nigerian government.
