  • – The group also called on some world leaders including U.S republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to come to its rescue

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has made an example of a functional civilized society. Condemning the inclusion of Uchechi Kanu, wife of the leader of the group Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB in a list of wanted persons by the Department of State Services (DSS) said the Nigerian government should take a cue from other civilized societies and replicate such in Nigeria.

Powerful Emma, IPOB spokesperson in a statement said the people of Catalonia protested in Spain for their freedom on September 12, and was not maimed or killed by security agents for such. Emma said: “The federal government and the security agents should have known that on September 12, 2016 that the people of Catalonia came out in millions in the streets of Catalans and Spain protesting chanting and flying their beautiful flag for their own separate country and no security agents arrest or kill any unarmed civilians during the peaceful protests in Spain, this is how civilized society behaves not so barbaric and wicked.”

He also said non of those who protested in Spain were listed as wanted persons due to the high level of civilization in the country and the respect for the rule if law. “We IPOB worldwide did not commit any crime against Nigeria, we are only calling for our freedom from northern Nigeria and British government,” Emma said.

Emma said the list released by the security agency is unfortunate. He also said the DSS have proved that they have lost focus on it mission which is intelligence work and maintenance of the nation’s integrity in the face of the world at large. “The DSS should have known that the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide is a nonviolent organization that has been taking perceive resistance towards the liberation of our people Biafra and have not been involved in any violent act or crime through out the period of protests in Nigeria and across the globe.

“It is absolutely wrong for the DSS to continue trailing Mrs Uchechi Okwu Kanu the wife of IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Emma Powerful Media and Publicity secretary for IPOB and other members who were included in the wanted list for only demanding for the self determination from Nigeria without any violent act while those killers squad in the northern Nigeria were released from the prison in the country,” he said.

The IPOB further called on international community and certain world leaders – Vladimir Putin of Russia, Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, Angela Merkel of Germany, the French president, the United States of America’s presidential candidate Donald Trump  – to come to their rescue.

Last week, the DSS in a fresh list declared some members of the IPOB, including the wife of their leader wanted and the spokesperson for the group wanted. Others are Sunday Onyekachi, Ogechukwu Obiorah, Ann Okafor, Amaechi Sunday Kanu, Dickson Ekene, Ndidi Ojukwu, Emma Nmezu, Sydney Okoli, Andy Obeche, Ifriam Ezeiwu and Chukwuemeka Mfon. Some others on the DSS list are: Ikenna Sunday Egonu, Chijioke Ekwueme, Godwin Osinachi, Udoka Amarachi, Uche Martin Doludo, Nduka Enuma, Ambrose Ero, Clifford Mbamere, Andy Obina Okafor, Stephen Oko, Onyeka Joseph and Eric.
