A recently released inmate who claimed to know Nnamdi Kanu in Kuje prison has taken a swipe at the allegation by MEND that Nnamdi Kanu accepted their plea to negotiate with FG. The inmate who formerly disclosed to this writer- Ifeanyi Chijioke that Nnamdi Kanu rejected numerous top politicians that tried to visit him once more has described MEND as ‘rubbish’. “They are rubbish, seeking relevance; they had no access to Nnamdi Kanu and can’t even have access to him. If top politicians could not have access to Nnamdi Kanu; how will a gang of criminals have access to him? What exactly can they offer? See, these people are crooks and liars. If you see the calibre of men Nnamdi Kanu rejected to meet; you will know MEND claiming they met Kanu in secret is an insult to Kanu and all the people he refused. I can vouch that MEND cannot have access to Kanu; Nnamdi Kanu is too big for MEND to talk to, Kanu is an international man so MEND has shown what they are and the world can now see criminals will always be criminals.”
According to Nigerian newspaper, Sunday Sun; it reported that MEND did not consult Tompolo before including his name in the negotiation team it claimed to have fielded. The report went further to disclose that the complaint MEND made on Nnamdi Kanu is nothing but a sham. It is now clear to dick and harry that MEND is simply seeking to exploit the cluelessness of the FG. The FG has decided to be hanky-panky in solving the problem in the Niger part of Biafra. Agitation reached its peak immediately after the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, while the agitators have demanded the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu and conduct of referendum; the FG sees this as a condition they cannot meet hence dishonestly try to arrest the condition.
This made the Federal Government porous and anybody can take advantage of the state of the Government; hence there is a promise that you can settle the armed crisis by another means; you will be given the chance to do so. This is coming at a time there is a strong support for the agitators wrecking havoc on Nigerian oil industry. Their demand for a referendum and unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu was the key to getting the support and love of the entire people of Biafra. Speaking on the claim by MEND, the inmate said “How can they discuss with Nnamdi Kanu for negotiation when they have already started fighting Avengers who are struggling with Kanu. There is no sense here because the whole thing is very clear; they stood against Avengers and standing against Avengers is standing against Nnamdi Kanu. How could they possibly have access to Nnamdi Kanu?” he questioned.
The claim by MEND got every support needed by the media which made it more obvious that it was a planned thing between the Government and MEND. “At this point, it should be very clear that this is a plan, but I can’t say what the plan is all about. The Government is tired of holding him because you can’t keep somebody and become every day to talk with him and the person will still be avoiding you. The Government cannot hold him further but should embrace the reality by solving the problem; you release him and seek negotiation, you don’t keep a man and still want him to talk with you. This is slavery and use of technical force to make someone conform to your desire; I don’t think Nnamdi Kanu will listen to them while in prison because he is not giving them attention” he noted.
There is full belief that things will get worse with the incompetence of FG while it allowed a criminal group like MEND to be solving the problem it should take charge. Giving advice to the Government, he said “I will advise the Government to confront the agitation boldly in Biafra because their cowardly confrontation via the use of a gun against unarmed Biafrans will only make them get armed. Niger Delta part of Biafra might have taken up arms and once this part takes up arms; everything will suffer and yet what we feared will come upon us. Release Nnamdi Kanu and try the negotiation they are smartly trying to impose on him. Biafra can go via negotiation because I grossly object war or any form of violence but with the way FG is going about this, I fear war or full-blown crisis will dawn” he concluded.
