Published on the Biafra post

Condemns the killing of Igbo men who garthered for her Ebonyi state meeting in Ogboji community in  Anambra State, emphasizing that the victims were Igbo sons murdered on Igbo soil.

IPOB's spokesperson, Emma Powerful, stresses that Igbos are one indivisible people and rejects attempts to segregate or fragment the Igbo identity.

IPOB strongly condemns the senseless killing of Igbo brothers in Anambra State. IPOB emphasizes that Igbos are one people, sharing a common ancestry, identity, pain, and destiny.

IPOB rejects tribal sub-categorization of Ndi-Igbo and attempts to segregate or provincialize the Igbo identity, emphasizing that contrived boundaries or colonial relics of state creation cannot erase the fact that Igbos are one indivisible people.

IPOB warns those who lend their voices to the narrative of tribal sub-categorization, stating that they will be held accountable before history and posterity.

IPOB demands an immediate and independent investigation into the killings, citing preliminary findings that point to illegitimate vigilante groups set up and funded by state governors without community consent as perpetrators.

IPOB calls out the South East Governors Forum for their cowardice and betrayal, alleging that they have emboldened the enemies of the Igbo people by aligning with Abuja power brokers and allocating security architecture to untrained and unaccountable vigilante groups.

The statement reads in  details...

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the supreme leadership of our indomitable and unjustly detained leader, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, condemns in the strongest terms the senseless killing of our Igbo brothers of Ebonyi extraction in Anambra State. This cowardly and despicable act is not only a tragic loss of innocent life but also a deliberate attempt to sow discord among one people who share a common ancestry, identity, pain, and destiny.

Let it be stated unequivocally: those killed were not "Ebonyi indigenes" in Anambra. They were Igbo sons murdered on Igbo soil. We reject every attempt—however subtle or overt—to segregate, fragment or provincialise the Igbo identity. These young men were our flesh and blood, and we mourn them as we would mourn our own brothers. No contrived boundary, no colonial relic of state creation, and no manipulative political categorisation can erase the fact that Igbos are one indivisible people.

IPOB has repeatedly warned that enemies of Ndigbo—both internal traitors and external collaborators—are working overtime to pit Igbo against Igbo. Nothing pleases our adversaries more than the sight of fratricidal strife in Alaigbo. They know that a divided people cannot resist conquest. This is why they sponsor political errand boys, faceless enforcers, and mercenary commentators to further deepen these divisions.

We therefore issue a stern warning to those who, either for pecuniary gain or warped ambition, lend their voices to this wicked narrative of tribal sub-categorisation. You are playing directly into the hands of our collective enemies. You are strengthening those who wish to keep Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unjustly detained and Igboland perpetually insecure. Be warned: IPOB will hold you accountable before history and posterity.

We equally call out the South East Governors Forum, whose cowardice and betrayal have emboldened the enemies of our people. Instead of rallying to defend Igboland and secure our people under a unified vision, these so-called governors are busy aligning with Abuja power brokers and allocating security architecture to untrained, violent, and unaccountable vigilante groups that have now turned their guns on the very people they were supposedly formed to protect.

Our preliminary findings point to these illegitimate vigilante groups—set up and funded by state governors without community consent—as perpetrators of this massacre. IPOB demands an immediate and independent investigation. All those found culpable must face justice. This is not just a crime against the victims; it is an attack on the soul of the Igbo nation.

Let the world recall that Ebonyi is the land of Dr. Akanu Ibiam, a revered son of Igboland and founder of apex Igbo organisation Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, who rejected British knighthood and returned it to Queen Elizabeth II in defiance of Britain's complicity in the genocide against Biafrans during the civil war. That heroic act was not for Ebonyi alone. It was for all Igbos. It is a shame that in the land of such legacy, governors now compete in betrayal while innocent sons of the soil are slaughtered.

To every mother grieving, to every father weeping, to every sister mourning her brother today—we say: we stand with you. Your pain is our pain. Their blood shall not be in vain. IPOB remains implacably opposed to all forms of violence, and we will intensify our efforts to work with communities, elders, and honest security professionals to root out this barbarism from our land.

In conclusion, we urge restraint from our people, especially from those being lured to make inciting comments aimed at pitching one Igbo community against another. Such utterances, whether born of ignorance or mischief, serve only the interest of those who profit from our division.

We are Ndigbo—not Anambra, not Ebonyi, not Imo, not Enugu, not Abia, not Delta, not Rivers, not Benue, not Kogi, not Akwa Ibom, not Cross River, not Edo, not Bayelsa—we are one family. United we stand; divided, we fall. Let us never again give our enemies cause to celebrate.

Long live the memory of the slain.
Long live the Igbo Nation.
Long live Biafra.

COMRADE EMMA POWERFUL SPOKESPERSON/MEDIA AND PUBLICITY SECRETARY FOR IPOB.
