Recently a press Release by IPOB publicity secretary Comrade Emma Powerful urged Biafrans to endeavour to bury their dead loved ones within a time frame of a space of 3 days at latest. The press release by Comrade Emma Powerful elaborated more on the importance of discouraging dumping the dead bodies of our loved ones who has passed on in the mortuary for a very long period of time . According the part of the statement released by comrade Emma Powerful it reads as follows ;
The global movement and noble family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu wish to announce to all Biafrans, friends of Biafra and lovers of Biafra freedom that it is high time Biafrans start burying our dead within three days as it was in ancient times. IPOB has gone too deep in the spiritual and finds out that keeping our dead ones for so long is contributing to the major problems of Ndigbo in this present time.
Our ancestors were burying their dead ones within three days and that is our culture and it helped our ancestors spiritually. Igbos have very rich and spiritually based culture which our ancestors maintained from the beginning of time. The present habit of keeping dead bodies more than three days and even months and years in the mortuary have had dire effects on our land and contributed to the spiritual weakness of Igbo Nation and of the entire Biafraland, moral decadence and all manner of evil that have taken root in our land. Now that IPOB has come to realize that this alien practice of keeping the dead on land rather than committed to mother earth has had a very negative impact on our people and upon our land. It has therefore become very imparative to urge our people to revert to the old practices that has very positive effect upon our wellbeing both spiritually and otherwise. End of quotes.
As interesting as this statement sound, every sane mind who is a bonafide indigenous person of ( Igboland) and Biafra in general and are opportune to be very close to an elderly man of 70 years upward do not need much stress to verify the above statement from Emma Powerful in regard to our culture.
Before coming on social media to display your stupidity and ignorance to the public.
permit me to freely tutor you that in many occasions the custodians of our culture will always warns against taking their corpse to the mortuary when they are dead . Though they might not insist that they must be buried on the same day of their death as they are unaware of the circonstances that might surround their death that might course a delay to their burial based on some rituals that might be needed to be performed before burial. Which includes the importance of the presences of their sons and daughters during burial.
Therefore in accordance to the pure tradition of an Igbo man and to an extension a Biafrans in general. A corpse wether in mortuary or not shouldn't exits longer than 72 hours if we are to maintain our ancient practice. This is our culture and we must protect it .
But it is so laughable that you Ekperima out of your own stupidity and ignorance has twisted a well delivered sacred message of hope from IPOB leadership that were decided after a thorough spiritual research as it concern restoration of our true identity and culture to claim that discouraging dumping dead bodies for long time in mortuary without burial is promoting Islamic religion in our land .
For me that your insinuation is extreme public display of stupidity .
IPOB leadership has in many occasions opposed the mass burial of our dead outside Igboland which mostly occurs each time Fulani jihadist in their usual way massacre our people in the far away north in which some dishonourable men who claims to represent us as elders or Ohaneze Ndigbo collaborates with the caliphate to perform mass burial of sons and daughters of Ndigbo outside Igbo land which is an abomination to our culture.
Then if IPOB can oppose such acts, because it is alien to our culture the question is how are they promoting Islamic belief in our land ? Because in Islam there is nothing wrong burying the dead outside the land of his origin.
In Islam you don't bury a dead body together with coffin but IPOB never demand that all these Islamic rules be applied by our people.
Muslims perform their burial by burying their dead quickly - within 24 hours. The dead must be interred without a casket, facing the holy city of Mecca. Before the burial, the body is washed with soap and scented water, then wrapped in a seamless cloth, tied at the head and feet. That's not our culture and that's the difference.
Therefore a thorough research proves that the close similarities in our culture on burial is not Moslem or Arab culture as better put. But Jewish culture in Jewish tradition Jewish funeral occurs within 24 hours of the time of death as it is a sign of respect to the deceased. However, many modern funeral services will happen later so friends and family members can all attend later .
And I believe this is exactly the position of IPOB leadership as it is concern funeral in our land . IPOB never oppose formal funeral rights of our dead loved ones as tradition demand but posited that such can be done later while the dead must be accorded the last most honourable respect of committing the deceased to the mother earth without restricting it to mortuary for a Long time for any reason.
As a bible student I can confirm through my research that there is no verse in the bible that encourages dumping our dead ones inside mortuary for any reasons . But there are notable bible quotation that encourages instant burial of dead bodies.
In reference to my finding can be confirmed in Deuteronomy 21:23 which reads; But you shall not leave his body on the pole overnight. Rather, you shall bury him on that [same] day, for a hanging [human corpse] is a blasphemy of God, and you shall not defile your land, which the Lord, your God, is giving you as an inheritance.
Above verse specified the importance of burying our dead on same day and also it made us to know that hanging the corpse example dumping them in mortuary is a blasphemy of God and it defile our land . This is a word of God to his servant Moses to the people of Isreal and to our Biafrans Christan brothers that believe in Bible .
More so in Ecclesiastes 12:7 the word of God made it more clear that it is in important that we bury our dead . Read Ecclesiastes 12 :7 it reads ; And the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
Can you see it ? Once a man dies his spirit returns to God and his body as well return to the dust where it came of without this his spirit is not resting . Hence the important of burying our dead .
In conclusion with the above research and fact check IPOB leadership through her publicity secretary Emma Powerful press statement is right and has no Islamic agenda . Therefore the general public is surged to disregard the lies being Pendled by one Finland Based illiterate and lazy researcher and Ignorance of our culture by name Simon Ekperima an Infiltrator who thinks that displaying his stupidity and ignorance in public will in any way distract the leadership or discourage Biafrans to loss their confidence in IPOB leadership.
