Prior to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s illegal detention in 2015, a male friend of mine and colleague name withheld, while we were on an official assignment narrated to me how he had a dream. In the dream according to him Biafra Nationalist leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was arrested by the Nigeria security armed forces. After his narration, he was shocked by my response to him. I made him to see beyond grandstanding where a small group can watch the performance of a play; in my assertion, I made him to know that without IPOB leader being detained or something extraordinary been done concerning the Biafra agitation, that the Biafra agitation won’t come to international timeline discourse.
Though, I understood his fear which he made open later that, what if they kill Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in detention. Few weeks after we had the conversation, he called me on phone telling me that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been illegally arrested in Lagos State. Immediately I saw his call I knew why he called because already I have gotten the sad news. I encouraged him to be strong, the call was a distressed call. Not only him was in distress. Biafrans at large were devastated, it seems all hope were lost but I strongly believed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s illegal arrest was the starting point for real Biafra agitators with lion heart to show up to fight for freedom. I was optimistic that IPOB leader’s illegal detention will bring fortune to Biafra and misfortune for Nigeria.
The journey wasn’t an easy task. Peaceful protests kicked off immediately, hundreds of thousands of IPOB family members were killed in their numbers by the Nigerian security armed forces. Nevertheless, IPOB remained determined and focus on their demand for the unconditional release of their leader from Kuje prison. Biafrans saw something spectacular in Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, he is loved unconditionally beyond measures. Similar thing reoccurred again. The day the Nigeria Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, came up on a national television with cheap lies that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in United Kingdom with the co-ordination of Interpol, the Lagos Trade Fair that make up Igbo majority mainly closed overnight on hearing the shocked news.
Biafra land was totally in dark mood, just like the previous Kanu’s illegal detention. Even those that criticized IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu were also unhappy that very day. Everybody was provoked, most markets in Biafra land on daily basis have similar prayer points; that there should be God’s intervention in Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case. I recalled seeing an old woman prayed for the IPOB leader and prayed against Nigeria.
Tension was very high, a good friend of mine almost jumped out from four storey building, he holds himself back but had no other option than to drink to stupor and slept off and woke up the following day. I took my time and monitored our peoples’ reactions, I learnt a lot. Biafrans are hungry for freedom, to them the only tested and trusted person is Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and for that reason, the love Biafrans have for him is immeasurable.
Those of them that pretend needs Biafra more than the activists on the forefront dying for Biafra emancipation. Just that pretenders lacked the boldness and courage to demand for what they are aspiring for. However, immediately the unconventional abduction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu came to public domain, as usual calls upon calls started coming in. I had uncountable calls within a space of time, I am aware my callers wanted to confirm if the breaking news was authentic as at the same time to know my view on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s extraordinary rendition to Nigeria without due legal procedure. They are jittered that Nigeria government might kill him. Yes! They have every reason to be afraid considering the brutal regime in power.
I reminded them that nothing will happen to the IPOB leader, he is naturally a superman, not by his making but that of God that created heaven and earth. I didn’t only make sure my callers were relief, I also educated them to reasoning beyond the pandora box, the repercussions behind flouting international law by Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s brainless led regime atrocity. Personally I wasn’t really bothered as such, I perceived Nigeria making a huge international blunder. Instead of Nigeria to legally requests for the repatriation of IPOB leader from Britain rather the terrorist induced Nigerian government opted for criminal rendition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to Nigeria. I made my callers to understand that the Nigerian government extraordinary rendition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu contravenes international law, unconventional abduction or extraordinary rendition is a criminal offense anywhere in the world.
Though, the situation at the moment made it little difficult for some people to comprehensively cope up with the dimension or end point of my arguments. Biafrans’ only concern is for the safety of their leader, they are too emotional. Igweocha (Porthacourt) women couldn’t control their temper, they burst out to the streets protesting for the immediate and unconditional release of Biafra Nationalist leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The Indigenous People of Biafra in diaspora are not left out, they are consistently, protesting submitting petitions to the appropriate quarters to governments of the civilize world.
The Kenyan government denied her involvement, but evidences abound that indicted them. As backward as Africa continent is, without Biafra emancipation Africa will remain poor in reasoning forever. In Biafra will Africa resurrect again, that is what Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is fighting for. The fight for Biafra freedom is not only for the Biafran people but the entire Africa continent, that is Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s mindset and concept of a free Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is loved more than every other person in Biafra land for doing so. Till this very moment hundreds of thousands of Biafrans are willing to volunteer themselves to be remanded in DSS custody in exchange for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to be freed.
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s led government failed woefully to understand the tricks of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s APC led government used his administration to play against Biafra. Probably, Kenyatta primordial love for influence over freedom for Africa could have warranted him abide to such treachery. No matter what; Uhuru Kenyatta didn’t only reduced himself to nothing, he rejected the spirit of Pan African Nationalism Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is fighting for. Just in; President Uhuru Kenyatta condemned the killing of a Kenyan environmentalist Ms. Joanne Stuchburry, but he masterminded the torture and unconventional abduction, illegal rendition of the IPOB leader. Complicity has been the problem of Africa leaders, Kenyatta has shown to be mentally deficient despite being an only member from Africa at United Nations Security Council.
Not even a serving political leader in Nigeria is loved like Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, many are ready to die for his sake. Worst mistake the Nigerian government will do is to tamper with his life. As it stands Mazi Nnamdi Kanu neither owns himself as an individual nor a leader of a certain group. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is an institution with aspiration of millions of people that make up a nation. Fighting against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is fighting against a nation, his case must be treated with caution to avert endless war that must certainly consumes every living thing within the sub Sahara Africa space.
