BIAFRA: AREWA YOUTHS ARE PROVOKING ANOTHER WAR IN NIGERIA, BIAFRANS IN THE NORTH REGION TO BE FORCEFULLY EVICTED

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu; IPOB Leader with group of foreign journalists who pay him a courtesy visit at his home in Afara- Ukwu Ibeku - Abia State on a day proceeding the 30th May 2017, Biafra Sit-at-home order in memory of Biafran fallen Heroes/ Heroines
The success of the May 30th 2017 Biafra Heroes Day sit-at-home commemoration seems to have set on fire the foundation of the British contraption named Nigeria. The political and religious leaders against the wishes of the people of Biafra have been disgraced and that has awoken the Arewa youths in faraway north of Nigeria.
In a recent joint meeting of prominent northern youth organizations held in Arewa House - Kaduna state, a threat was issued to non-indigenes especially the Igbos to vacate the northern region before October 1, this year. The group pointed out that the forceful marriage is not working and called for restructuring. Unsurprised, they also revealed their trait of barbarism and their urge for violence by demanding for the forceful eviction of Biafrans residing in the northern region of Nigeria.

The Arewa youth organizations must not be misled over the clamor for the restoration of Biafra by the Indigenous People of Biafra led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as we have acted civilized and law abiding in the quest to restore Biafra. Rather, the Nigeria security forces made up of mostly Hausa/Fulani Muslim stock, have been indicted in extra judicial killings and violence against Biafrans by Amnesty International. I applaud the Arewa youths for stating categorically that their leaders have failed them and it is time to take their destiny in their hands, but that must be done in a civilized manner as been shown by IPOB. It is obvious that the northerners have been forced by the civilized approach of IPOB to back down from their rigid stance of holding on to the country without any effort to dialogue or negotiate.

The threat for the eviction of Biafrans from the northern region is uncalled for and a provocation of violence. It is certain that the disgruntled cabals in the Nigeria government having failed in provoking Biafrans to violence has resorted to using the Arewa youths. I am aware that most of the northern leaders are neither interested in restructuring nor secession, and wants to use violence as a last resort. The demonstration and the protest carried out by the Indigenous People of Biafra showed decorum and did not involve threat or intimidation of indigenes of Arewa or Oduduwa. The successful sit-at-home civil disobedience was peaceful and was not in any way forceful. In fact non-indigenes in Biafra land were not harassed neither were their movement restricted.

The Arewa youths have shown they do not have any knowledge of history for blaming the Igbo people of the South-East, for the carnage that befell the country in the 1960s, apparently they have been brainwashed with fallacies by their grandparents and parents. The truth is bare for everyone to see as Biafrans have constantly borne the brunt of the atrocities occurring in Nigeria. The threat by Arewa youths to forcefully evict Biafrans is no difference from the actions of the Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram Islamic terror group. The Hausa/Fulani youths are covetous over the prosperity of Biafrans situated in the north region but will be made to understand that this is the era of civilization and the rights of everyone must be respected. The properties and businesses of Biafrans remains theirs as long as there are relevant legal documents binding ownership.

It is myopic to blame the Igbos for a military coup that has the backing of officers of other ethnic group and the sole objective of installing a Yoruba man as head of state. The Hausa/Fulani youths are quick to forget that the same coup was thwarted by an Igbo military officer in the person of Aguiyi Ironsi. Did they also forget their revenge mission that lead to a pogrom of Biafrans? They can go ahead and accuse Biafrans of illicit activities but that does not take away the fact that the people of Biafra are responsible for the growth of Nigeria’s economy while the north region contribute nothing except violence. Hausa/fulani youths should not forget that their region is the most troubled region in Nigeria with starvation, poverty and killings as its trademark.

The Indigenous People of Biafra is seeking to exercise their right to self-determination through nonviolent approach but that should not in any way entail they will succumb to threats from the northerners. Even as Biafrans in the north region are advised to begin to return home for their own safety, they must properly and legally document whatever investment and properties they own over there. Though they have been warned severally but had turned deaf ears to the plea to move the core of their investment back home that does not mean another pogrom against Biafrans will be taken for granted. The northern youths should understand they do not have a monopoly to violence and must respect the rights of the people of Biafra sojourning in their region, exactly as Biafrans have also respected the rights of their people residing in Biafra land.
