Mazi Nnamdi Kanu; IPOB Leader at CKC Aba during May 30, 2015 Biafra Hero's Day memorial
Recall that before the arrival of Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB, there has been demand and campaign for Biafra independence by various groups such as MASSOB, BZM, BIM and BILIE to mention but a few. The Biafra struggle propagated by these groups took various forms and shapes and finally never saw the light of the day until the inception of IPOB led by Nnamdi Kanu took the centre stage with an unprecedented toll and push, reverberating around the world and making headlines both in local and international media outlets. IPOB has vowed to stop at nothing in making sure the the voice of the Biafran people are heard throughout the ends of the earth and Biafra hero's day celebration initiated by IPOB is a case in point.

The significant of May 30th hero's day celebration  cannot be overemphasized as IPOB is set to break another world record ever known to humanity. The Biafran people are determined to take back their land because power belongs to the people. May 30th 2017, has been declared by IPOB as SIT- AT- HOME protest in rememberance of the Biafra fallen heroes/heroines, to further press home their unquenchable and non-negotiable resolve to restoring Biafra and for the release of Nnamdi Kanu the leader of IPOB who is being held illegally by the Nigerian government in Kuje Prison for two years now.

The charismatic nature of Nnamdi Kanu the leader of Indigenous People Of Biafra has earned him a lot of respect and followers not just among Biafrans and Nigerians but also among other citizens of countries around the world as he is being viewed by many as a selfless leader whose resolve to restoring his identity and dignity remains unshakable and unadulterated. The Biafra Hero's day has taken a new toll and  it's going to be an epoch making event as the Indigenous People Of Biafra  observes  sit-in protest to remember the Biafra hero's which involves the victims of the Biafra war and those that gave their lives for the freedom of Biafra recently. The sit-at-home protest will be observed by all Biafrans irrespective of their political offices in Nigeria (Nigeria politicians from Biafra extraction) and Biafrans form different works of life both in Biafraland and in diaspora. Biafraland is expected to experience graveyard silence, in that, there wil be no vehicular movement or movement of people on the road and in the sea. Biafrans are also expected to close or lock up their shops or market places in solidarity. While Biafrans observes sit -at-home protest in Biafraland and other parts of Nigeria; those in other parts of the world  (Diaspora) are expected to hit to the streets in a peaceful rally; bringing to the consciousness of humanity, governments and citizens of countries where they are resident as asylum seeker the injustices and predicaments inflicted on Biafrans by the Nigeria/British governments. The sit-at-home protest is geared at showing and setting the record straight that the power belongs to the people of Biafra and that those that gave their lives for Biafra can never be forgotten no matter how long it takes. The Biafra hero's day celebration  is not unconnected to the Biafra war orchestrated by the Nigerian/British governments and other world powers.

However, it is very pertinent to bring to the conscience of humanity the event that ensued the Biafra hero's day celebration as we take to the history line for more understanding. Colonel Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu the then governor of Eastern Nigeria and the Biafra Leader on 30th of May 1967, declared the Eastern Nigeria the Republic of Biafra. The declaration was as a result of the indiscriminate massacres and pogroms aimed at total extermination and annihilation of all Easterners in many parts of Northern Nigeria as a revenge for the killing of Northern Hausa/Fulani soldiers during the coup d'etat in 1966 which was termed an Igbo coup not minding the involvement of other soldiers from other ethnic nationalities in Nigeria. Similarly, there was also an agreement between Ojukwu representing Eastern Nigeria and Yakubu Gowon representing Nigeria in Aburi Ghana; the Aburi Accord was vehemently rejected by the Northern Hausa/Fulani oligarchy which would have restructured Nigeria as a confederation; that and the pogroms led to the declaration of Republic of Biafra on 30th May 1967, which served as a way of saving a people from being extinct from the earth surface, hence, the levying of war against Biafra by Nigeria. The genocidal war of aggression and attrition claimed the lives of 3million Biafran men, women and children  as a result of land, sea and air brocade as a weapon of warfair to lure Biafrans in to submission.

The Indigenous People Of Biafra led by Nnamdi Kanu as a result of this history mapped out 30th May of every year as a day set aside for the remembrance of Biafra fallen heros. Since 30th May 2014, IPOB has staged rallies and peaceful demonstrations to mark this epic occasion and 30th May 2017 will not be an exception but shall take a different dimension. IPOB is the initiator of Biafra hero's day being celebrated around the world today which have never happened in the history of freedom fighting world over. Recall that the Biafra heros day held on 30th May 2016 at Nkpor Anambra state of Biafra, turned bloody as a result of unprofessional behaviour and unethical actions of the Nigerian military forces in enforcing their rule of engagement which led to the butchering and unwarranted massacre of IPOB members, even as those that were not killed were arrested and buried alive in shallow graves, while others were bathed with raw acid so as to die a slowly but painful death. The wickedness and hatred for the Biafran people by the Nigerian government is second to none, perhaps the reason for seeking freedom from Nigeria by Biafrans.

As a result of this high-handedness and barbaric nature of the Nigerian state and her security operatives; due to the numbers of lives lost by IPOB, the Indigenous People Of Biafra have decided to be several steps ahead of the Nigerian state by declaring SIT -AT-HOME protest in remembrance of the Biafra war victims, press home their unquenchable and non-negotiable resolve to restoring Biafra and for the release of Nnamdi Kanu the leader of IPOB from Kuje prison. When the Nigerian government and her military forces did not see Biafrans to kill, they will start killing themselves and they must be defeated by Biafrans at all cost.
