Shocking revelations have continued to trail the motives behind the recent raid of homes and arrest of Judges in the past weeks.

Judges of the Federal High Court and the Supreme Court clamped down by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, have continued to open “can-of-worms” over the incidents preceeding their arrests and intimidation under gun point by the agency.

The revelations of the judges has further brought to the fore, that Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari; the supposed anti-corruption crusader authorized the illegal arrest of the judges following their refusal to cut a deal with him in ruling in his favour.

Hon. Justice Adeniyi Ademola had earlier noted that the main reason for his arrest and ‘gunpoint brutality’ meted out on him was because he granted bail to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki(Rtd), stressing that public officers serving under Buhari’s government carried out a personal vendetta against him using allegations of judicial corruption as a smokescreen to punish him for delivering judgments against them.

It is not too long the dust raised by Justice Ademola began to settle that another Judge of the Supreme Court, in the person of Justice John Inyang Okoro revealed that his recent travails in the hands of the government agency backed by Buhari, is not unconnected with the judgment he delivered against former and his party; the All Progressives’ Congress, APC, in reference to the 2015 election appeals at the Apex court.

In a four-page letter dated October 17, 2016, which was addressed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, Justice Okoro strongly believed that the former Governor of Rivers State and Nigeria’s current Minister of Transportation, Mr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, is behind his ordeals simply because the Supreme Court ruled against the APC candidates’ gubernatorial election appeals of Abia, Rivers and Akwa Ibom states.

The Justice of the Apex court speaking on the involvement of Amaechi in his ordeals, revealed that the duo of the Minister and the ruling party’s governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom state, Mr. Umana Umana, made attempts to use him to influence the decision of the court concerning the election cases by approaching him at separate intervals to engage in an infamous deal to compromise the verdicts of the court.

The letter reads: “My Lord, I strongly believe that this my travail is not unconnected with the verbal report I made to you on 1st February, 2016, about the visit to my official residence by Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers state and now Minister of Transportation.”

“In that report, I told you My Lord, that Mr. Amaechi said that the President of Nigeria(Muhammadu Buhari) and the All Progressives Congress mandated him to inform me that they must win their election appeals in respect to Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Abia States at all costs.”

Justice Okoro also admitted that Amaechi urged him to rule in favour of Mr. Umana Umana; the APC governorship flagbearer in Akwa Ibom state, adding that they promised to pay him in millions and that he would lose quite a fortune as his sponsor if the judgment goes otherwise.

All these drama is sharply pointing at the rot in the Nigeria’s supposed anti-corruption war whereby government officials serving in Buhari’s Kitchen Cabinet and members of the ruling party are shriven of every corrupt practices and baptized ‘saints’ while those in the opposition and those that swore to uphold the rule of law and ethics of their profession are victimized and hunted down.

The illegal invasion of homes of few reputable judges at odd hours who has not allowed Buhari and his goons to influence their conducts and judgments is an Eye-opener that Buhari has no iota of regard towards the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law, neither does he have any genuine intention or sincerity in eradicating corruption in Nigeria.

All the rogues, fraudulent and corrupt elements in the APC including those serving under Buhari’s government are left frolicking around him while the innocent are being intimidated, harrased and detained for no just cause.
This is the height of executive tyranny ever witnessed since the return of democratic governance in Nigeria.

Corrupt Judges like Justice John Tsoho are absolved and left behind in the anti-corruption chase today because they choose to align themselves with the dictates of President Buhari in judicial affairs.

For anti-corruption war to be effective or be taken serious in Nigeria, it must begin and sweep across the households, friends and associates of the first family in Aso-rock as we believe that “change” should begin with them.
