“Today they lower their flags, bow their heads, and honor the sacrifices of their fallen heroes… and as May 30 approaches, we Biafrans too prepare to stand still, observe the total lockdown, and remember those whose blood watered the tree of our freedom.”

Today, the people of Netherlands solemnly remember those who lost their lives during World War II and subsequent conflicts through ceremonies held across their nation on May 4, a day officially known as Dodenherdenking—Remembrance of the Dead. It is a sacred day dedicated to honoring civilians, soldiers, and all who paid the ultimate price in the defense of freedom.
As the Dutch people pause to honor their fallen heroes, we, the Biafran people, also look forward to May 30—our own solemn day of remembrance—set aside to honor our heroes and heroines who were killed during the Nigerian Civil War, as well as IPOB peaceful protesters who later lost their lives while peacefully agitating for the restoration and total liberation of Biafra.
In line with this sacred remembrance, the Directorate of State (DOS) of IPOB has announced a total lockdown across Biafraland on May 30, a solemn act of collective honor, reflection, and tribute to all those who paid the supreme price in the struggle for freedom.
On that day, streets will fall silent, businesses will close, movements will pause, and a people will unite in memory of those whose blood became the foundation of an unfinished journey toward self-determination.
To all the brave men and women who stood, fought, sacrificed, and died in the name of freedom—your sacrifices shall never be forgotten.
To the people of Netherlands, we salute your fallen heroes.
And as May 30 approaches, we Biafrans stand prepared—not in celebration, but in solemn remembrance, unity, and unwavering resolve.
“A people who honor their dead heroes keep alive the spirit of freedom for generations yet unborn.”
God bless Biafra.
