BIAFRA: OHANEZE NDIGBO AND THEIR RESTRUCTURE IDEA IS FOR THE NORTHERNERS AND NOT NNAMDI KANU

The new leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo which seems to be redeeming the face of the socio-cultural organization that has been rejected by the Igbo clan of Biafra is getting twisted again. The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Ohaneze, Chuks Ibegbu, disclosed to the media that his group will be meeting with the recently released leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to convince him to drop the struggle for the restoration of Biafra and embrace their call for restructuring of Nigeria. Ohaneze Ndigbo claimed they had plans of sending a delegation to visit Nnamdi Kanu before he was granted bail, while in fact none of them could volunteer to be part of the delegation out of cowardice. I wonder where they were hiding when Nzuko Umunna paid the IPOB leader a visit in Kuje Prisions, Abuja
It is despicable that it took a change in the leadership of Ohaneze before the Igbo group could speak out against the extra judicial killings and violence against their people for several years. Instead of the leadership of Ohaneze to consult with the people they claim they represent, they have gone ahead of themselves in seeking their “common ground” which is the restructuring of Nigeria. I keep wondering when these political jobbers will come to the realization that the quest for the restoration of the sovereign state of Biafra is not about the Igbo people alone.
Nnamdi Kanu is not leading the Igbo people alone but the Indigenous People of Biafra which also consists of other clans whom are actively engaged in the quest for the restoration of Biafra. Ohaneze must understand that Nnamdi Kanu, just like millions of Biafrans have sworn an oath to either restore Biafra or die trying. Thousands of Biafran youths have sacrificed themselves for the quest to restore Biafra and not for the restructuring of the dead contraption. How many Igbo people did Ohaneze consult for them to claim that their position of restructuring is the position of the totality of the Igbo people? They must wake up from their silly dreams and begin to listen to the voice of the Igbo people they claim they represent.
Why is Ohaneze Ndigbo advocating for the Igbo people to continue to be in the same country with people that despises them so much? Is the killing and marginalization of over a hundred years not enough lessons for separation? Is the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo deaf to the calls from northern elders and groups that the region will not be part of any plans for restructuring not to talk of secession? Ohaneze wants to bother Nnamdi Kanu that has made his choice of restoring his fatherland instead of going to preach to the northerners that believes strongly that Fredrick Lugard’s contraption must remain as it is.
The northerners keep exhibiting their parasitic traits even when it is common knowledge that the region does not contribute a dime into the federation account. Is Ohaneze not aware that the northern delegation to the 2014 national conference decided to disassociate themselves from delegates of other regions because there was a proposal to call for the implementation of the confab report? Nigeria has never shown any seriousness in the implementation of any developmental plans and restructuring will never solve the problems that have befallen the country.
The enterprising nature of Biafrans is been forestalled in Nigeria and cannot be changed by restructuring but by secession. After the Biafra genocide of 1967-70, the people of Biafra showed unity by sojourning to other regions in Nigeria bringing forth development to those regions but what has that gotten them? Biafrans have continually been targeted whenever there is an ethnic or religious disagreement especially in the northern region. How much more blood is needed from the Igbo people to bring the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo to their senses?
As much as Ohaneze Ndigbo has the right to their choice of restructuring Nigeria, they must not force their selfish ambition on the Igbo clan of Biafra. It is a shame that in faraway Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is calling on world leaders not to overlook the genocide against the Biafra people but Ohaneze Ndigbo which claims to be representing the Igbo clan is foisting a forced unity on their people. Rather than engage in a futile visit to Nnamdi Kanu to convince him on their restructure agenda, Ohaneze should begin to engage directly with the Igbo people to ascertain their desire over the contraption called Nigeria.
