The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, on Monday, August 8, 2016, insisted that struggle for the actualization of the Biafra Republic was still very much on course.

The group denied the allegation by two officials of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, that MASSOB had betrayed the struggle.

Reacting to a statement credited to two spokesmen of IPOB, Emma Nmezu and Clifford Iroanya to the effect that MASSOB had derailed and betrayed the Biafra struggle, the organisation under the leadership of Comrade Uchenna Madu said the organization would not chicken out of the struggle like its former leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike.

“MASSOB, under the leadership of our leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, expresses dissatisfaction and sadness over this allegation from our sister organization, IPOB, and we advise that the statements should be thoroughly investigated because our image and name had been adversely affected,” the statement  signed by director of information of IPOB, Comrade Samuel Edeson.

“Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra understands that IPOB, while making the statements, was referring to Ralph Uwazuruike’s betrayal and sabotage ,If Uwazurike, as a person, is accused of being corrupt and sabotaging the Biafra struggle, it does not mean that Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra as an organization, had betrayed Biafra struggle.
“Uwazuruike’s deviation from Biafra struggle was the primary reason MASSOB expelled and chased him out of MASSOB headquarters at Okwe, Imo State since 2014.

“Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra now under the leadership of Uchenna Madu has continued with the Biafra struggle untainted, unblemished and unstained and is highly energized with the Biafra spirit of consistency and self determination.

“The statement recalled that after Uwazuruike expulsion from MASSOB, he formed another group called Biafra Independent Movement (BIM), and advised IPOB leadership not to associate BIM with MASSOB. It also recalled that MASSOB was the first group that reacted against what it called “the unapproved dialogue by MEND on Nnamdi Kanu’s release”
