The Federal High Court (FHC) on Tuesday dismissed reports that the new judge assigned to adjudicate on the case against Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has stepped down.

The FHC, in a statement signed by the Chief Registrar, Sulaiman Hassan, described the reports as “false and misleading.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) observes that the report, which is being circulated on social media, is titled: “New Judge Steps Down from Nnamdi Kanu’s Case, Says His Arrest Was Wrong.”

In the publication, it was alleged that Justice John Tsoho, who is the Chief Judge (CJ) of FHC, is the new judge.
The report reads in part: “Justice John Tsoho, the new judge assigned to Nnamdi Kanu’s case, has quit.

“He said Kanu was brought back to Nigeria from Kenya illegally, and because of that, he can’t judge the case without going against his own beliefs.”

However, in the statement, the chief registrar said the claim was “entirely unfounded, fictitious, grossly mischievous, damaging in intent and should be disregarded in its entirety.”

“The attention of Management of the Federal High Court has been drawn, with great concern, to an online reportage as above captioned.

“The court unequivocally refutes the false and misleading report, alleging that the Honourable Chief Judge, Hon. Justice John T. Tsoho, OFR, has stepped down from Nnamdi Kanu’s case and made statements regarding the legality of his arrest.”

According to Hassan, the true position is that the Honourable Justice Tsoho, in his capacity as Chief Judge, has reassigned Nnamdi Kanu’s case from Honourable Justice Binta Nyako to another (‘new’) Judge.
“The report referred to, is therefore, totally spurious.

“The defence team should hence prepare to receive instructions regarding the case, as may be issued by the new judge.

“The Federal High Court strongly cautions against deliberate misinformation to mislead the public and erode confidence in the judicial system.

“We urge the general public to be wary and rely only on verified information from official court sources.

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court has threatened to adjourn sine die the trial of the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Nyako said she would commence the trial when the defence was ready.

She spoke following the insistence of Kanu’s lawyer, Alloy Ejimakor, that his client’s rights to a fair trial were being disrespected.

Ejimakor told the court that owing to the accelerated hearing granted by the court, there is a need for his client to be well prepared for the same trial, but the facility where he is being kept isn’t making it easy for them.

He also accused the DSS of having hidden cameras around the meeting room where they were supposed to prepare for the said trial.

But the prosecution lawyer, Awomolo urged the court to dismiss the application as the defense has not stated cogent reasons why the application should be allowed.

The trial judge, Justice Nyako adjourned to May 20 to rule on both applications before the court and ordered that the prosecution commence trial.

Nyako, however, stood down the matter for 10 minutes for the defense lawyers to have a quick meeting with Kanu.

IPOB Press Release
Published on the Biafra Post
December 31, 2023

The global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) raise an alarm over the precarious health situation of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu needs urgent and specialized medical emergency treatment to avert serious outcomes.

The report reaching IPOB leadership says that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is having medical complications in the DSS solitary confinement. The report says that Mazi Kanu may be having internal bleeding caused by torture. This current medical situation may have risen from ruptured veins and internal bleeding disorders arising from the beating and torture he was subjected to by the Nigeria  secret agents who kidnapped him in Kenya in 2021. Moreso, the drug overuse and abuse that DSS have subjected Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to may also be part of the problem. Our Leader requires a medical emergency treatment outside the DSS facility to undergo surgery for his survival. Even the DSS Medical Director agrees that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu requires urgent and serious medical attention to handle his case.

The Nigeria government and the British government should release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on medical grounds for independent medical professionals to attend to him and carry out the surgery if necessary to save the unforeseen situation.

IPOB worldwide is notifying the civilized world and the International Community and governments across the globe that if anything happens to our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has been held illegally by the Nigeria government that Nigeria will face severe consequences.

The British government and others who are directly the beneficiaries of their Nigeria project should advise President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People  of  Biafra before it becomes too late.  IPOB is not begging Tinubu and Co in Aso Rock to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu but to save Nigeria from a calamitous situation that will befall them if Mazi Nnamdi KANU dies in their custody. My part is to deliver a message to the Nigeria government and the entire world.

IPOB members worldwide must emphasize the medical emergency of our leader. Also, Igbo politicians, religious leaders, women groups, and elders in Igboland must all rise up to ensure that nothing happens to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the hands of a lawless government of Nigeria. All hands must be on the deck to ensure that he is released immediately for him to undergo a thorough medical examination and treatment.

However, some of the Igbo diehard enemies of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB, Biafra struggle and Ndigbo who have swon to ensure that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is either jailed or killed should bear in mind that the consequences will be huge. The Nigeria government should be careful that nothing happens to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu during and after his illegal detention in DSS solidarity confinement. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a precious jewel that Biafrans have given their lives to protect, and many are ready to give their lives for him. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a trigger of the gun that is capable of sinking Nigeria if mishandled.

The Igbo political jobbers who are colluding with Tinubu's government to jail or kill Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and to destroy IPOB should be careful not to murder sleep for themselves and their families.

Those Igbos in collaboration with Tinubu's APC government and the Supreme Court Justices to murder or jail Mazi Nnamdi Kanu should understand that IPOB will not allow them to remain if anything untoward happens to our leader,  Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Emeka Ofor, Arthur Ezeh, Peter Mba, Francis Nwifuru, religious leaders and traditional rulers, and others whom we have mentioned their names before and their families will not go scot-free if Mazi Nnamdi KANU dies in their custody.

We have been tolerant of the abuse of the judicial process by the Supreme Court Justices to keep Mazi Nnamdi Kanu indefinitely illegally in detention. But should anything happen to him during or after detention, the consequences will be left imagined.

Therefore, we call on the Nigeria government to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to attend to his medical emergency situation  while there is still time.

IPOB press release
Published on the Biafra Post
December 10, 2023

The IPOB intelligence team uncovered the secret plot  by some Southeastern politicians and businessmen with some cabals in the Tinubu's government to lobby and pressure the Supreme Court Justices of Nigeria to remand our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in DSS custody or Kuje prison after December 15, 2023 judgment. We are warning them to reverse their plans or face severe consequences.

The idea to keep our leader Mazi Nnamdi in detention was brought forward by some criminals in our land who claim to be millionaires and politicians.

We call on Biafrans and particularly IPOB members worldwide to hold persons named below responsible should anything untoward happen to our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and if he is not released on Friday 15th of December, 2023.

The traitors involved in the secret plot to perpetuate the continuous illegal detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu are:

1. Sir.  Emeka Offor - Businessman.

2. Nyesom Wike - Ex - Rivers State Governor. (FCT Minister)

3. Hope Uzodinma - Imo State Governor.

4. Peter Mba - Enugu  State Governor.

5. HRH Cletus Ilomuanya - Traditional Ruler .

6. Francis Nwifuru - Ebonyi State Governor.

7. Arthur Eze - Businessman.

8. Owelle Rochas Okorocha Former Gov. Imo state.

The other persons involved in this wicked plot will be made public in due time.

Biafrans should ask the above named individuals why they don't want Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to be released from the illegal detention? Some of these people played active roles in the kidnap and extraordinary rendition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from Kenya to the zoo called Nigeria and his continuous illegal detention and we have not forgotten.

These men are political jobbers who are sponsoring the insecurity in the southeast for their own political gains. They understand that the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will restore peace in the southeast. They are agents of darkness and enemies of the Biafra movement.

President Ahmed Bola Tinubu's Government and the Supreme Court Justices of Nigeria must not oblige those pressuring them not to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally on the 15th of December via the Apex Court's judgment. The Federal Government and the Supreme Court of Nigeria can not  ignore the rule of law and consent to the wishes of selfish individuals working for their pockets and who are also against the Nigeria State. This group of men is not only acting wickedly against Mazi Nnamdi KANU but is also sabotaging the image of the Nigerian state. These political profiteers are enemies of Nigerians and enemies of peace. The IPOB movement worldwide calls on the Supreme Court of Nigeria, never to succumb to blackmail and intimidation from greedy people, and fail to release Mazi Nnamdi KANU who had been illegally incarcerated for over 30 months.

Should the Supreme Court fail to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on December 15, 2023, IPOB will equally hold the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Supreme Court Justices responsible, too.

Nobody should blame IPOB for what will  come if our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is not released on 15th December 2023 by the Supreme Court Justices.

IPOB has remained patient and peaceful in the face of the Nigeria Government's provocations and persecutions. This time around, if the Supreme Court fails to release our leader, we will have no choice but to take our destiny into our own hands. The Nigeria Appeal Court Justices have already acquitted and discharged Mazi Nnamdi Kanu last year, but the Federal Government of Nigeria refused to obey the judgment and refused to obey their own court order. We are patiently waiting to see if the Supreme Court Justices will be courageous enough to dispense justice. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has not committed any crime known to law. We are not begging for his release because he never committed any crime and has no charge against him. IPOB has endured enough provocations and persecution, and we will not endure the oppression of Nigeria  and its security agencies anymore.

What will befall the above  named criminals and those yet to be named persons who viciously conspired with the Nigeria Government's cabal to obstruct the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Supreme Court on Friday December 15, 2023 will be left to be imagined if the Supreme Court succumbs to their plans. Time is ticking, and the eyes of the world are on the Nigeria Supreme Court Justices action on this world-renowned case.

IPOB press release
December 10, 2023
Published on the Biafra Post

The global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by the great and indefatigable liberator Mazi Nnamdi Kanu raises concern over the promotion of Justice Tsammani Haruna to the Supreme Court may be as a reward for remanding Mazi Nnamdi kanu in DSS detention without any charge using civil procedural rules. Recall that Justice Tsammani Haruna was the judge who okayed the stay of execution of the appeal of the Federal Government after the Appeal Court Judges discharged and acquitted Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on the 13th of October 2022.

IPOB wonders how Nigeria government promoted Tsammani Haruna to the Supreme Court of Nigeria and Nigeria Supreme Court has gone so low that the Apex bench has become a place to reward judges who are stooges of the federal government. The Supreme Court used to be an exclusive bench for men and women of integrity and those who fearlessly defend the rule of law and the constitution without compromise of the country. The Supreme Court is not a place for men and women with debased minds who give judgment based on their what they will gain (their stomach) or out of intimidation. But recent events in Nigeria have proven that Nigeria is irredeemably unfair, and justice is in the hands of reprobates. Though, we understand that the Supreme Court of Nigeria still has justices who are keen on defending the rule of law and the constitution, however, adding to the Supreme Court even one corrupt justice, who may be the Federal Government's stooge, will endanger the independence and reliability of their judgment. There are certain judges that NJC should not accept or recommend to the Supreme Court to avoid Nigeria's Supreme Court judgment, which has been seen as "Ghana must go judgments." to not continue.

IPOB hopes that Justice Tsammani Haruna was not hastily promoted to the Supreme Court to corrupt the panel that will deliver the judgment on Mazi Nnamdi kanu's case on December 15, 2023.

It is unlawful for a judge to stay the execution order on a declaratory judgment of the Appeal Court and be made to sit on the Supreme Court to further decide on that case. Nevertheless, Justice Tsammani Haruna turned the law on its head and stayed the execution of the Appeal Court judgment that declared the kidnap and extraordinary rendition of Mazi Nnamdi kanu as unlawful. By his compromised judgment, Justice Tsammani Haruna granted the Federal Government of Nigeria and the DSS the powers to continue the violation of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's human rights and right of liberty.

Some of the late honorable Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria such as Justices Ademola Adetokumbo, Kutigi, Nnaemeka Agu, Karibi Whyite and the likes will be turning in their graves seeing people like Justice Tasmanian Haruna sit on their honorable judgment seats to murder justice. Contamination everywhere in the judiciary has cursed irreparable damage to the Nigeria justice system. Nigerians no longer have confidence in court as the last hope of a common man as they used to say.

Biafrans, friends of Biafra, and lovers of Biafra freedom should keep their eyes on the Nigeria Supreme Court.

Friends of Nigeria and lovers of Nigeria, including their allies, should prevail on Nigeria Supreme Court not to succumb to blackmail and intimidation from the Nigeria Federal authority but demand that they do the needful by releasing Mazi Nnamdi KANU because as of today, he is not standing trial but is being persecuted for championing self-determination of Biafrans via a UN supervised referendum. Self-determination is lawful, but international kidnap and extraordinary rendition of a freedom fighter is against UN laws and Africa Charters.

The Supreme Court Justices and the Federal Government of Nigeria must release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on or before December 15, 2023. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB have patiently and peacefully abided by all the local and international laws in the pursuit of Biafra self-determination right. Irrespective of all the federal government provocations, brutality, massacre, forceful disappearances, illegal proscription, arrests, and detentions of IPOB members and kidnap and rendition of our leader, we have maintained our peaceful approach. However, should the Supreme Court refuse to go by the rules of law by releasing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally, IPOB will have no choice but to dance in the same market of square of lawlessness with Nigeria. Those who make a peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolutions inevitable.

IPOB press release
Published on the Biafra Post
November 17, 2023

The global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our prophet and supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu raises alarm over the denial and harassment of our Leader's visitors by the DSS headquarter's staff in Abuja.

On Thursday, the 9th of November, 2023, DSS refused to allow Mazi Nnamdi Kanu access to his visitors on a flimsy excuse.

The claim  of not having enough personnel to handle the logistics for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's visitors because of Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi States elections by Abuja DSS as a reason for denying Mazi Nnamdi Kanu access to his weekly visitors is ridiculously laughable.  During the general elections of Presidential, Governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly, our leader was allowed visitors to visit him at DSS solitary confinement and detention facility. why should DSS deprive Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of visitors because of Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa States governorship elections?  This is a calculated attempt to torture and make things difficult for Mazi Nnamdi KANU. The DSS's excuse of denying our leader visitors as ordered by the court is suspicious. We, therefore, warn DSS to be careful in handling the issues of our leader. We do not expect any excuses or selective visitors for our leader going forward. IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu understand the gimmicks of the Janjaweed controlled DSS and the Fulani government of Nigeria.

IPOB is watching the janjaweed controlled DSS agency and their director, Mr. Yusuf Bichi, as they have started their shenanigans again. We also put their new Igbo hired-hand  spokesperson Mazi Peter Afunanya to not start his dirty job with us. Nigeria is a banana republic where constituted authorities don't obey court orders and rule of law. Nigeria Security Agencies, especially DSS and Police  are composed of a bunch of illiterate officers that take orders from the ethnic biased Directors and Heads even when such orders contravene the rule of law of the country.

If Nigeria is a responsible country, treasury looters and politicians like Hope Uzodinma and his colluders can't influence the decision of the courts that ordered for the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi KANU Not even a president of a sane country can disobey court orders. But in Nigeria, any idiot with small power like the security agencies and the  presidency can disobey court orders without consequences. Well, IPOB and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu have responsibilities to expose the corruption in Nigeria's judiciary and presidential governance to the world. The Nigeria Security Agencies, particularly the DSS, is helping in highlighting the expositions. As our leader said, Nigeria is irredeemable and must fall. Biafra restoration is the only hope for the common man and for an organized society; unlike the current damnable Zoological Republic of animalkingdom callef Nigeria.

Our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is the gun trigger that must not be taken for granted. His health and welfare must be given utmost attention. He must be given unfiltered access to his choice guests and  visitors weekly, not selectively in line with court orders.

The Nigeria government must do well to release him based on the subsisting Appeal Court Orders if they lack logistics to manage his visitors.

The Government has abandoned a British-Nigerian political activist who campaigned for independence for his homeland after he was seized and tortured by security forces, his supporters say.

Nnamdi Kanu spent years running a radio station from his home in south London, but has been held in solitary confinement for two years by Nigerian security services who seized the activist in Kenya and illegally spirited him back to the country.

His family say he is being held in a small, windowless cell despite a Nigerian appeal court dropping all charges against him and ruling that his arrest and extradition were unlawful. The United Nations has also called for his immediate release.

His lawyers accuse the UK Government of doing too little to push for his release and failing to condemn his mistreatment, even though he was travelling on a UK passport when seized. They also fear his life may be in danger in prison.

“This is a serious matter which we would have expected the British Government to be very vocal and reactive about,” Ifeanyi Ejiofor, one of Mr Kanu’s legal team, told The Telegraph.

“The UK Government has not done much. The Foreign Secretary has so far failed to reach any view.”

Mr Kanu is leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra group, and for years ran Radio Biafra from his flat in Peckham, calling for independence for the region in south-eastern Nigeria.

The region briefly seceded in the late 1960s, prompting civil war and the deaths of at least a million people, before the breakaway was blockaded and starved into surrender.

Although popular among many Biafrans for raising calls for a referendum on independence, Mr Kanu is a divisive figure, and some in the Nigerian government see him as a potentially dangerous rabble rouser who raises the spectre of renewed civil strife. His group is proscribed as a terrorist outfit in Nigeria.

Mr Kanu had previously spent two years in prison and had fled Nigeria while on bail. In June 2021, he was in Nairobi when his family and supporters say he was abducted and tortured by the Nigerian and Kenyan authorities.

After being beaten for several days, he was put on a small plane back to Nigeria and charged with offences including terrorism and treason.

An appeal court dropped the charges and called for his discharge last year, saying he had been subject to extraordinary rendition without proper extradition. But he remains in security service custody ahead of an appeal before the supreme court in September.

His family earlier this year described the Foreign Office’s handling of the case as “a catalogue of disappointing failings which has left the Nigerian government’s position largely unaltered, and Mr Kanu’s wife and children, all British citizens, unsupported by their Government.”

The supreme court is widely expected to side with Mr Kanu, but his legal team warn that his health has deteriorated and allege that he is in danger while in custody.

‘Anything could happen’

Mr Kanu’s family told MPs earlier this year that he was being held in a filthy, windowless six foot by six foot cell.

He has not been allowed to change his clothes since he was captured and is given one meal of soup and bread each day.

He has a heart condition and needs treatment for an ear injury his lawyers say he suffered under torture. Nigerian authorities are refusing to let Mr Kanu’s own doctors treat him and his lawyers claim that his life may be at risk if he is forced to undergo treatment by military doctors.

Mr Ejiofor said: “I am 100 per cent sure that if he were made to undergo medical procedures under custody that anything could happen, given the history of how he was abducted, how he underwent extraordinary rendition, how he was tortured.”

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We continue to offer consular support to Mr Kanu and remain in regular contact with his family and legal representatives, and the Nigerian and Kenyan authorities.”
